As always, year in, year out, through the wind and rain, Norfolk farmers working very hard to feed the nation. @harrym_vids @JeremyClarkson @NFUtweets GtGrandson George loves the videos taken from our patio. We are so lucky to live here.
I am pleased to report some very good news for me at last. This week I auditioned to join the Norwich Philharmonic Chorus and PASSED!!! I am now a member of the bass section joining over 100 singers. A busy season starts with practice next week.
Look at tonight’s very welcome visitors to our back garden (farmer’s field). I’m told they are juvenile common cranes. Never seen them before here but, I understand, their numbers are increasing in Norfolk.
Just watched the BBC #Proms “Prog Rock at the Proms” on catch-up. All pieces great but, for me, the highlight was Vanessa Haynes’ vocals on “The Great Gig in the Sky”. Sublime.
2nd train travel in 2 days. This taking granddaughter Amy & Gt Grandson George to London Town to see ‘The Gruffalo’ play at the #Lyric Theatre. A special & wonderful show loved by us all & especially by George. Well done @Tallstorie15763 1st class travel a thank you treat for Amy
The @MuseumCromwell #Huntington housed in the old grammar school in which Cromwell & Samuel Pepys studied. Building fragments of the 12th c. Hospital of St John the Baptist an almshouse run by Augustinians. Wonderful Romanesque arch.
While in Huntingdon visited the excellent @MuseumCromwell & enjoyed a walk about. Unfortunately both the churches of All Saints’ & St. Mary’s were closed which was rather disappointing. @DioceseofEly
Yesterday was my 1st railway journey for many years &, sadly, 1st on my own. From Acle to Norwich to Peterborough to Huntingdon to meet fellow apprentices of 50 years +. A great catchup chat over lunch. Then the journey back home. Overall a good long day. Trains staff great.
A visit today to the excellent @MuseumCromwell in #Huntingdon where the two members of staff were so informative & helpful. So many fine exhibits in a small area. Just love the Romanesque door. I highly recommend you visit.
The stage is set @Nrw_Cathedral for the performance of #Othello by the Lord Chamberlain’s Men (TLCM)
Visited @SainsburyCentre at @uniofeastanglia today to view the “Living by the Rule” exhibition. Excellent & well worth a look. Reception staff welcoming & helpful. Loved the books etc on show. Some probably written in @Nrw_Cathedral monastic scriptorium.
Voted today & noted a campaigner wearing a political rosette inside the polling station & standing on the inside of the door to the voting area over-looking the desk staff & facing the voting booths. Is that allowed? @ElectoralCommUK
It is such a lovely day & about time I re-started my church crawling. Today visited All Saint’s, #Walcott then St. Mary’s, #Happisburgh @NorwichDiocese ending at St. Mary’s, #East #Ruston @TheCCT
Just watched a wonderful, moving film, “The Taste of Things”, a 2023 French film available on BBC iPlayer. The New York Times perfectly described it “having elements of joy and sorrow, humour and intensity, beauty and light and shadow combine in a perfectly balanced experience".
