People don’t get it: under FSD I can mess with nav and music on Pearl with full confidence she’ll handle the road. The scary part? Every car now has a distracting touchscreen — without FSD’s intelligence to back it up. How do those drivers cope?

SpaceX Special Committee, are you listening?
Here we go:
1. Custom AI chips and the real-world data loop are the core. We designed the silicon, we own the fleet data, and no one else has that closed system.
2. Dojo is our own training stack. It lets us iterate on our data without waiting in line for someone else’s GPUs.
3. Optimus uses the same models. If it works on Earth it generates cash and tech we can use elsewhere.
4. Energy storage is already real infrastructure. Megapacks power grids today; the same systems matter for launch sites and Starlink.
5. We know how to manufacture at volume and drive costs down. That learning curve is hard to buy.
6. Robotaxi turns the existing cars into a software business with almost no extra capital once autonomy is unsupervised.
7. The car and energy businesses throw off cash now. That cash de-risks the longer bets.
8. Shared AI talent and compute across the companies avoids doing the same work twice.
9. Our shareholder mix gives liquidity and a retail base SpaceX does not yet have. Useful when you need to raise or when you want multiples.
10. Elon's voting rights. Do I need to say more? He deserves the key to the empire, which comes at a price.
Bottom line: Tesla is an AI, energy, and robotics platform with its own silicon and data. Combined with you, it is a more complete company than either one alone.
Let's do it, don't look at the pennies. Look at the future.

Can I please meet the Special Committee of SpaceX and tell them in ten minutes why they have to make the best offer ever for the best company in the world?
Asking, because I dare, lol.
Please, just give me ten minutes.

Replying to @elonmusk
And so I went to Cernan and astronauts from all of the Apollo missions and got their signatures of tribute to SpaceX. It was a birthday gift to Elon and hangs the entryway at SpaceX HQ to this day. Armstrong made 60 Minutes publish a retraction too. Details: steve.blog/2012/07/11/the-ap…

Never seen anything like it.
Keep on signing, sharing and encouraging others to do the same.

Calling on the Tesla Board & Special Committee to pursue a merger with SpaceX.
The shareholder letter is live. Read it and sign if you agree. Share it with friends & family.
Thank you to @Amy787 for drafting this so well.

Elon Musk says SpaceX is using its rocket-engine casting shop to make turbine blades and vanes, the parts that run 12 to 18 months behind the rest of the turbine, so it can bring power online 12 to 18 months faster than anyone else
“So we’re casting the blades and vanes for the turbines. So SpaceX already has a very advanced castings capability that was developed for rocket engines."
"So we have, I think, actually the most advanced casting capability on Earth, because the demands for castings for rocket engines exceed the demands for anything else you could possibly imagine."
"So, taking that incredible team that has, I think, objectively the most advanced casting technology in the world and saying, hey, can you guys also make some blades and vanes for terrestrial turbines is much easier than what they have done in the past."
"And when we talk to the turbine suppliers, they tell us that the blades and vanes are 12 to 18 months behind the rest of the turbine. Meaning they can deliver everything except the blades and vanes 12 to 18 months before they can deliver the blades and vanes."
"So casting is this really difficult bottleneck. And if anything, it seems to be getting worse."
"So that means that we can bring power online 12 to 18 months faster than anyone else."
"That’s the kind of advantage that’s difficult to replicate. Unless someone else is building an advanced casting shop, they will be unable to compete with SpaceX in this regard.”
Elon Musk reveals chip-fab "breakthroughs" he won’t discuss on the earnings call, says TeraFab’s first test chip is due around May or June next year with volume production around Q3'28, and credits ASML for “accelerating equipment deliveries”
“Well, I mean, we’re just figuring out chip fabrication. So, but I’ll tell you what our internal expectations are, which obviously I put, you know, big error bars in this because we don’t know if we will actually achieve this or not, but it’s what we’re aiming for internally: is to make our first sort of test chip functional in approximately May or June of next year."
"That’s just kind of a SRAM chip or something to basically test the line. That’s at the Research Fab in Austin."
"And we’re aiming to, our aspiration is to reach volume production around Q3 of ‘28 at TeraFab, at Gibbons Creek, the main TeraFab location. These were very aggressive dates, and we’re very appreciative of ASML and all of our other suppliers in accelerating equipment deliveries in order to achieve this outcome."
"Let’s just say that that outcome of achieving volume production is at least in the set of possible outcomes for Q3 or Q4 of ‘28. So these are obviously like insanely fast timeframes for chip production."
"We do have, I think, some significant potential breakthroughs in chip fabrication, but I don’t think I should discuss that on earnings call.”
"Let’s not give away the shop here. But I am optimistic that we will dramatically accelerate chip production and that TeraFab will ultimately do what the name suggests, which is to make a terawatt of superintelligence chips per year.”

We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so.
Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training.
