Truly a big loss to the industry

One thing I've noticed with the CID actors by and large is, they are extremely close with one another, almost like an actual family. They celebrate and grieve almost always together.
I don't think any other cast can claim to be as close as they are.
‘CID actors Shivaji Satam, Dayanand Shetty, Ashwini Kalsekar, Hrishikesh Pandey and others arrive to pay their last respects to the legendary filmmaker B. P. Singh. 🙏🏻 His contribution to Indian television, especially through the iconic show CID, will always be remembered. 🕊️

Thanks to CID, 10 PM on a Friday were the best 10 PMs and the best Fridays.

CID was a very serious show in its initial days.
I still remember an episode that mentioned fugue state.
I am still extremely impressed by this because even in 2026, we don't know anything beyond 'he is a psycho!'.
Aahat's opening credits used to leave me petrified.
RIP, Sir!

The Indian film industry mourns the loss of veteran producer-director B.P. Singh
Mumbai, 27 October 2026: A dark day has fallen on the Indian film and television industry. Veteran director and producer Brijendra Pal Singh, popularly known as B.P. Singh, passed away today at the age of 77 following a heart attack.
B.P. Singh was the creative force behind some of Indian television's most iconic shows, including CID, Aahat and Adalat. CID became one of the longest-running crime shows in the world and turned characters like ACP Pradyuman, Daya and Abhijeet into household names. Aahat gave Indian audiences a new kind of suspense and horror storytelling. These shows are still watched and remembered by millions today.
An alumnus of FTII Pune, he began as a cinematographer and grew into a producer-director who changed the face of Hindi television. He gave opportunities to hundreds of technicians, writers, actors and workers, and set a benchmark for quality and consistency in television.
His passing marks the end of an era. The entire industry is in shock, and the loss is deeply felt by everyone who worked with him and by the audiences who grew up on his shows.
We pray that God grants peace to his soul and gives his family the strength to bear this irreparable loss.
Om Shanti.

Remember those evenings when we sat glued to the TV, trying to crack a case before ACP Pradyuman, waiting for Daya to break down a door, and wondering, “Kuch toh gadbad hai”?
For millions, CID was a childhood ritual.
The man who made those memories possible was Brijendra Pal Singh, fondly known as BP Singh. He passed away on 27 October 2026, following a massive heart attack.
Born in Dehradun, BP Singh created, directed and produced CID, which began in 1998 and became one of Indian television’s longest-running crime shows.
And when he wasn't keeping us hooked on crime, he was giving us sleepless nights with Aahat, the horror series that ran from 1995 to 2015.
From childhood mysteries to late-night scares, his shows became part of our growing-up years. Today, we remember the man behind them.

Lukewarm take: we need to stop using mental health/therapy buzzwords in day to day life. Not everyone you dislike is a narcissist. Being sad doesn’t mean you’re depressed. There’s a resounding difference between being nervous and having anxiety. You’re not ADHD because you don’t like to sit still. You’re not autistic because you’re quirky. OCD doesn’t mean you’re organized. And for the love of all that is holy, not every situation that made you uncomfortable is “trauma”.
