Yes! This is a critical message for ALL learners, but especially to value and support our heritage learners. It’s especially meaningful to see this while attending #ACTFL23 with SO many excellent WL educators.

How do you define success? Focused on students and outcomes: are they having fun, is my program successful. Winning this award, changed her focus. More involvement with advocacy not only for her students but for her whole profession. Yey! @kamenetzkyJP #actfl23
My memories reminded me that @pamwesely & I were together on this day in 2017 and today for @actfl Assembly of Delegates! I feel so fortunate to share these professional learning opportunities with her. #ACTFL23 #AOD23 Thank you, @iwla!
Great day at the #ACTFL23 Assembly of Delegates! One big highlight was hearing from @MaestraLondon about DEI! #ILoveACTFL for bringing us all together. #aod23

#AOD23 Surviving & Thriving: Embracing Strategies for WL Programs in Higher Education. @benrifkin’s message to educators: If your university mentions a “new vision statement,” get on that committee & make sure that these words are included: World, global & international. #ACTFL23

The IA Board of Regents did their own study and decided that Iowa college students don't need to be aware of the concepts of diversity, inclusion, and equity.
Future employers, the good ones, will expect Iowa graduates to be well-versed in DEI concepts.

Emmett Till should be 82 today.
His mother, Mamie Till-Mobley,
ensured that the world saw how gruesomely her 14 year-old child was murdered.
Racism isn’t disagreement.
Families grieve. Communities mourn.
Dreams wither. Humanity suffers.
People perish.
Remember Emmett Till.

Just what I needed today!
