Also in this: Kepu Tuipulotu seeing surgeon this week about knee injury picked up at England training. Likely to miss weeks rather than months, but that still makes him a big doubt for the entire autumn with England.
Report from The Rec. Thought Miles Reid was awesome, not for the first time.

Bath 36-28 Sale
Bath’s intent was much better throughout.
When they used the backs they cut open Sale.
The defence was largely strong but a few missed tackles hurt.
Pick and go game was poor again.
Things to work on yes but Bath won and showed some invention.

A few tactical tweaks made a big difference for @BathRugby today:
✅ Quicker ruck speed
✅ Longer passes even when we were going through forward phases. It shifted the point of attack and made it harder for the defence to set
✅ Cross-field kicking to stretch the Sale backline
✅ Lots more runners presenting as viable options to occupy defenders, not just predictable one-out carriers
✅ Running at gaps out wide and forcing defenders to bite to create overlaps
Some simple but effective solutions. Encouraging signs of the coaches and players learning and evolving our game 💙🖤🤍

Yes, I know it's only four games into the new #PREMRugby season. However, it is enough to tell me @BathRugby will need to be rebuild for 2027/28. This is how I've helped van Graan wield the axe to the current squad, top new signings, and embed the academy shaunwren.substack.com/p/bat…

England update: Benhard Janse van Rensburg has been stood down from all rugby duties indefinitely after suffering two significant concussions in his last three games. @EnglandRugby
JvG on Bath v Sale: "Both of us have got challenges, both sides have players away, so it's who can align as quickly as possible and then sometimes you need a bit of luck."

🤦🏻♂️ CARRE TO BATH?
Sad news if the Mail’s reporting is true. Rhys showed his quality again as the brightest performer in the defeat to Quins.
Perhaps the club has a cunning plan to replace him but it’s a msssive ask.
A huge loss if he goes - and to a major rival!

Understand that Rhys Carre from Saracens 💫 to Bath 🛁 is a done deal and that the 🏴 prop will move to The Rec after next year’s World Cup as a replacement for Beno Obano.

Ever feel teams suffer more injuries when things aren't quite clicking? No scientific evidence that Bath's rehab list is in any way related to their struggles on the pitch, but sometimes it feels the two go together! 🤷♂️

Gutting news re Santi. These bloody pitches 🤬
Timely boost on Horse, Arundell and TdG though - we need all three of them back asap
Bath have released an Injury Update

Gloucester have conceded 67 points through four PREM games. Pretty good!
Spoke to a source about what's different under Joel Tomkins' defence.

Whilst injuries notably to Guy Pepper have impacted it nonetheless is a reflection of Bath’s current form that only 3 players have made it into Borthwick 36 man squad. No gripes on my part.
Training squad announcement 📋
Head coach Steve Borthwick has named a 36-player training squad for a three-day camp ahead of the upcoming November Nations Championship fixtures against Australia, Japan and New Zealand.
