Thank you for joining, @Lanier4SF !
I was glad to be on State of the Bay arguing for a federal wealth tax on billionaires instead of a state tax. Billionaires will leave CA, reducing on-going CA income tax rev. And we depend on the top 1% of earners for 30-50% of our tax revenue. How do we know they will leave? High income earners have already proven they are willing to leave:

If California’s “billionaire tax” passes, it will amount to the first time that a government in the U.S. has successfully taxed the assets, rather than the income, of extremely rich people as a class. newyorker.com/magazine/2026/…

More great questions, Dean. Thank you! Adding these to the queue.
Replying to @mondean @stateofbay
Should a tax rate change retroactively based on the results of a vote? Is that good tax policy? Are tax policy changes better off when being made legislatively (prop 13 as an example)?
Looking forward to having you on State of the Bay tonight at 6pm to talk about Prop 40, @saikatc !

The whole world is watching to see if California can pass Prop 40 and tax the wealth of billionaires. This weekend in SF, the Curran Theatre was packed for a rally with @BernieSanders and @RoKhanna. If California can go up against the billionaires and win, the nation and world will follow. Vote YES on Prop 40 and NO on Prop 41 and Prop 42!
What are your thoughts on Prop 40, the "billionaire tax"?
Hear the arguments for and against tonight at 6pm on 91.7FM KALW.org
