Vaccination significantly decreased COVID-19 related hospitalisation & mortality in CHD patients, but even post-vaccine they have a higher risk of severe outcomes. Thanks to @BHFDataScience for making this research possible - read more now in @Heart_BMJ

I've been here 7 years and we finally thought of a good team name, I'm so proud of us
We're delighted to announce that the Keavney Lab has successfully retained our @DCVS_UoM Christmas quiz title, and won a new lab mascot 🎉🎄
Come say hi & chat about how we can improve genetic diagnosis for congenital heart disease! #AHA23
We have two Keavney Lab posters from our postdocs this morning at #AHA23
Yingjuan Liu will be presenting her 3D cardiac organoids at poster 1037, and @stephbaross will be discussing her work on the diagnostic yield of WGS for CHD at poster 1097. Both from 10:30 in zone 1

Critical tuberculosis medication is currently unavailable in India--worsening our drug-resistant TB crisis and causing needless death.
As one man puts it, "If my wife dies, who would be held responsible for this crime?" Pls join me in signing this letter: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F…
I'm finally watching Granite Harbour but I can't get over calling anyone in Aberdeen "the energy guy" as if that's a distinguishing feature
My proudest achievement 😌
Our second Novogeno plushie has been won by Stephanie Baross from the University of Manchester; congratulations Stephanie! There are still plenty of freebies to be won in our raffle so visit us at booth 49.

Once I was walking the dog and a woman ahead excitedly called over "there's a parrot in the tree!"
It was a chaffinch.

Very excited to be back at an in-person conference in a while. Come visit me at poster 3 later on to chat about congenital heart disease in the 100,000 Genomes Project #GERS2022
I was so excited to wear a floppy hat I scammed my way into a gown when I wasn't even graduating
Congratulations to all the Keavney lab students who graduated today! @fotiou_elisavet and @shona_borland both graduated with PhDs (and @stephbaross pretended) and @HJones___ got his MRes

Preprints are great... in theory. They get science out fast and without paywalls. But what good is a free archive of all scientific knowledge without journals to tell you which papers are worth your time, and without impact factors to tell you who to hire?
Is that Stef with an f? No, it's Steph with a PhD!
(I've been waiting to tweet that stupid joke for years)
Congratulations to @stephbaross who passed her PhD viva on Tuesday! A few of us got together to celebrate her achievement! We're looking forward to having you back in the lab soon!🥳🎉
