As an independent voter who loves his country, it pains me to say that after much research, I have concluded that the Republican party has in the last 25 years done nothing but cost this country untold amounts of money and produced very little to make the expenditures anywhere close to worthwhile. Witness 3 major government programs: Homeland security: A department that was created after 9:11 and has turned into nothing but a bloated overpriced bureaucracy, while accomplishing next to nothing objectively provable as far as our actual homeland security is concerned. The money would have been much better spent on just improving our existing agencies, like the FB I, CIA, as well as local police forces. ICE: Has accomplished next to nothing in terms of stopping any kind of terrorism or removing hardened criminals from our cities. The Republicans make a lot of noise about it, but the truth is very little has changed on our streets. The brutality of agency has become legendary. Real ID: The biggest boondoggle of all, has caused virtually no improvement in our national security, nor has it thwarted any terrorist plots. It's only accomplishment has been to cost the American people untold amounts of stress, aggravation, and money. In short, since 911 , the Republican Congress has completely overreacted, and created bureaucracies that have cost the American people, hundreds of billions of dollars with very little in return. It doesn't matter whether their intentions were well-meaning or not, this is complete incompetency. Please remember this with elections drawing near.

You know, celebrity deaths usually are not a big deal to me, cause most of them are jerks anyway. Dolly Parton's death actually touched me. She, of course, was a great performer, but seemed like a really nice person, very generous, and as far as I know, no one ever had a bad word to say about her. You can tell a lot about a person from what people have to say after they passed, and the genuine sorrowful comments coming in from the general public, as well as the show business types, says a lot about her. I think we lost a good person today.
