Today my son turns 10 years old and one of his birthday gifts is this Cobalt Sprint Drake Aetheryn #121. This one is a little more personal than your typical Stockmon purchase. My son spends a lot of his free time coding, building games and exploring anything that lets him be creative. Naturally, when I first showed him stockmon.app⁠, he was pretty interested. His first question was “Do you have any blue ones?”😂 We ended up spending quite some time browsing the collection together, looking through different Aetheryns, comparing designs, talking about their traits and stocks and finding the ones he thought looked coolest. Eventually, we landed on this one in my collection. The funny part is that he’s named after me, and I’ve always joked that he’s the brainrot, degenerate version of myself. Which makes this particular gift even better. I own Cobalt Sprint Dragon Aetheryn #4, and his new Aetheryn #121 shares the exact same DNA recipe and slightly different aesthetics. Like father, like son. But there’s something about this experience that really reinforces why I’m so bullish on what we’re building at @stockmonapp. Stockmon gives people multiple reasons to care about the same collectible. For my son, it’s a badass blue dragon that he gets to own, show off and eventually interact with inside a game. For me, it’s a digital collectible with an actual onchain economy behind it. His opportunity into early investing is fun and not a boring, complicated and intimidating task. I’m also making it a point to NOT introduce him into hyper gambling memecoin assets in this early stage. He’ll understand constant, steady accumulation as a foundation. And that’s exactly the kind of interaction I believe will introduce an entirely new generation to digital ownership and onchain assets. Not through complicated financial interfaces, but through things people already enjoy doing. The financial infrastructure can exist underneath the experience without needing to be the reason someone shows up. I’m proud that something we’re building can create moments like this with my own kids. And who knows, maybe in a few years he’ll be helping build the games these creatures live in. And look at this beautiful mf right here 🥲 One of my favorite things about Stockmon collectibles is that while every collectible carries real value through its underlying stock token vault, aesthetics still matter. A LOT. The financial value gives you a reason to own one. The design gives you a reason to fall in love with it. I’ve personally been extremely bullish on the $GOOGL lineage aesthetics, while others swear by $FIG. That’s what makes this interesting.
