Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall met in 1977, when she was engaged to Bryan Ferry of Roxy Music, and he was still married to Bianca Jagger. Their relationship blossomed almost in plain sight. Mick invited the couple to dinner at his home in London, and he was so smitten with Jerry that even Ferry couldn’t help but notice. For more than twenty years, they were one of the most high-profile couples in rock and fashion, with four children together: Elizabeth, James, Georgia May, and Gabriel. In 1990, they held a Hindu ceremony in Bali that was widely assumed to be a legal marriage for years, until a British court ruled in 1999 that it had never been valid under either English or Indonesian law. The separation came that same year, when it was confirmed that Brazilian model Luciana Gimenez was expecting Mick’s child. Over time, the two maintained a cordial relationship for the sake of their children. Jerry later married Rupert Murdoch, while Jagger continued his life with dancer Melanie Hamrick, the mother of his youngest son.
