1. When women were in the minority: "why do you even care if the protagonist looks like you, men don't care"
2. When men are in the minority: "boys are being DiSCouRaGed!", "society hates men!"

i’ve read books with male protagonists all my life. if boys are incapable of reading a book with a female protagonist then i think that’s the real problem that needs to be addressed.
