A good & timely beginning, specially after the MILAN exercises were shifted some years ago from ANC (Sri Vijaya Puram ) to ENC (Vishakapatnam).
🇧🇩🇧🇹🇮🇳🇲🇲🇳🇵🇱🇰🇹🇭 A first for the Bay of Bengal! The maiden #BIMSTECMaritimeSecurityExercise was inaugurated at #SriVijayaPuram on 30 Oct 26 by Vice Admiral Vineet McCarty, AVSM, #CINCAN. The ceremony was attended by Vice Admiral Biswajit Dasgupta, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, VSM (Retd), National Maritime Security Coordinator, along with senior delegations from Bangladesh, Myanmar and Sri Lanka. Anchored in the Delhi Declaration, the exercise marks a significant step towards translating shared maritime security commitments into coordinated action at sea. It aims to enhance interoperability, strengthen information sharing and promote collective responses to maritime threats and transnational challenges, including terrorism. Shared Seas. Shared Security. Shared Prosperity. #MAHASAGAR #BIMSTECSecretariat #IndianNavy #MEA #RegionalCooperation #AndamanAndNicobar #BridgesOfFriendship #UnitedThroughOceans

2) This appears to be another improved variant of the earlier USN 'Arsenal Ship' concept. The snort mast on this Chinese diesel sub (operating near own coast in 'safe waters') would present a much smaller tgt compared to the semi-submersible Arsenal ship.

I recall that during a day at sea on INS Vikrant in 1966, then Lt A Roy briefed us NDA Navy cadets on the flight deck. In end Dec 1967, I joined INS Mysore & met Lt S Das. Sadly both these officers died in the 1971 Indo- Pak war. I also met Cdr V Kapil, VrC in recent yrs.
Adding a piece of trivia to this, which we have also discussed on the phone. Ashok (Akku) Roy was a fascinating character in many ways & his personality has been etched beautifully im @SandeepUnnithan book #OperationX. I, of course, was lucky to hear about him earlier, here and there, and he seemed quite a maverick. More to the point, he was involved in the training and insertion of 'Water Rats' of the Mukti Bahini, the gallant underwater saboteurs, from Tripura. After a splendid job there, he returned in time for the War, to be deployed on the Western Seaboard. To my mind, that makes Akku the only one from the @indiannavy to be involved (or see action) in both theatres of the War. It was sad to lose him, Lt Sirohi & MCPO Vijayan. Salute their service. @MeluhaMaritime @subnut @probirpaymate @MukulAsthana5 @CaptDKS @abhilashtomy @JaggiBedi
