Bare Lal Adivasi accused Mithlesh Adivasi of not performing the fast and moon worship, alleging she wished to harm him, and threatened divorce. The police intend to mediate rather than escalate the dispute, with a woman officer set to counsel the couple to resolve their domestic differences peacefully.

Choice feminism is bs! It fails to question the institutions that govern choices, for example here it's religious conditioning that influences choices for so many women who keep Karwa Chauth.
Irrespective of who keeps the fast, Karwa Chauth is a deeply regressive and patriarchal custom that is troublingly romanticized in Bollywood movies. It'll continue to be a regressive custom no matter how many "empowered" women keep the fast.
Does the choice also apply to the women who don’t report domestic violence in order to protect their husband’s dignity???
