One compromised laptop was just the first lead. Now @binance says it found additional breach points. 🚨
Withdrawals remain paused, with a 45-hour reopening estimate as of the latest update. Around $3B in affected assets has been frozen.
Covering losses matters. Explaining what failed matters too.
Investigation update: Our initial investigation suggested that the security incident may have involved a compromised laptop, however our subsequent investigation has uncovered additional points of breach.
This was a complex attack, and we are doing all we can in coordination with law enforcement to resolve it. We are still gathering the facts, and will share more directly as we have them.
Binance will cover all losses from the SAFU fund and the company’s funds. User funds are safe.
We are still on track towards the expected timeline to resume the withdrawal service in 45 hours. Deposits remain unaffected.
The outflows ceased when we paused withdrawal service earlier. We are still working with partners to freeze many of the impacted assets, and have frozen around $3 billion thus far.
We will continue to provide further updates through official Binance channels as more verified information becomes available.
Your backup exchange won't help if all your crypto is stuck on the first one.
The @binance incident highlights a risk beyond losing funds: losing access to them.
Do you keep crypto outside your main exchange, or trust one platform? 👇
Binance's initial investigation suggests that the security incident may involve a compromised DevOps engineer’s laptop, which allowed an attacker to gain access to a service container and submit unauthorized withdrawal transactions. We have found no evidence of any wallet private key leak. We will share a detailed technical post-mortem once the investigation is complete and the facts are fully verified.
The estimated total impact sits at around $6.3B. We have worked with blockchain partners to freeze affected assets, with ~$3 billion frozen on-chain so far.
Binance will cover all losses from the SAFU fund and the company’s funds. User funds are safe. We will also publish an updated Proof of Reserves once the remediation is complete.
As an immediate precaution, Binance has:
- temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals while security checks are completed;
- revoked the affected address authorisation;
- engaged law enforcement and blockchain intelligence partners to trace and recover funds.
Our teams are working around the clock to resolve this issue safely and thoroughly. We are working closely with our law enforcement partners to confirm the identity of these criminals and bring them to justice.
Please rely only on official Binance channels for updates. Please feel free to contact Binance Customer Support if you have any further questions.

That dApp you used once? It may still have access to your tokens. 😬

Google isn’t just “exploring crypto” anymore. 👀
Alphabet is already using Google’s new MPC system to secure its own digital assets on Ethereum and Solana — while major financial institutions test the same infrastructure.
That’s the signal: institutional crypto is moving deeper into the backend. 🔐

Exchanges may temporarily pause deposits & withdrawals around the upgrade — even while trading stays live.

👁️ Privacy coins aren’t private in the same way.
@monero , @Zcash , @Dashpay , @BeldexCoin and @zano_project use very different privacy models.
And one more trap: faster blocks ≠ faster transfers.
Let’s break down what actually matters. 🧵👇
#PrivacyCoins #CryptoPrivasy
🟣 @BeldexCoin $BDX — private by default
Ring signatures, stealth addresses and RingCT protect source, receiver and amount.
⏱️ Target: 30s blocks
⚡ Flash can lock quickly, but confirmation ≠ instant re-spendability.
Privacy Tokens are still on testnet.
🔵 @zano_project $ZANO — privacy can extend to the asset itself
Standard transfers can hide sender, receiver, amount and asset type. Confidential Assets extend that model to issued assets.
⏱️ Blocks: ~60s
⚠️ HF7 is a current operational caveat.
Auditable wallets also exist.

38ms vs 20 seconds. Looks like a clear winner, right? ⏱️
Not so fast.
Block time ≠ transaction finality. And neither tells you exactly how long a crypto swap will take.
⚡ Which chain actually feels fastest when you're moving crypto? 👇
⏳ Who keeps you waiting?
Some chains beat every few milliseconds. Others make you wait 20 seconds for the next block
That gap decides how fast every app on top of them feels
