i mean, ikaw mismo nagsabi you think anyone who doesn't speak Filipino/Tagalog is a hypocrite, as if being Filipino is Tagalog by default. ganoon ba kasakit sa bu'ot intindihin na yung sa "sariling kanila" hindi Tagalog? kaunting self-awareness naman.

you did not read the whole thread lmfao i LITERALLY said na i acknowledge tagalog as a communication tool. i come from a multi-ethnic city. its literally courtesy for us there to ask what language everyone prefers before we start discussions and YES we accomodate tagalog speakers

Nobody is asking you to abandon your identity. But does that mean everyone who visits your area has to speak your language just to deserve basic accommodation and respect? Gets na namin yung preference niyo pero wala namang umaagaw sa ethnicity niyo may gahd. What’s not clicking?

and never i did say that tagalog speakers should fuck off, bc that also applies to me since im ALSO a tagalog speaker πŸ’€πŸ’€πŸ’€πŸ’€ also who gives a FUCK about english i never pushed english over tagalog saan ba niyo nahugot yan???

the problem is you associate filipinoness with compliance in speaking tagalog. parang automatic seperatists na ang tingin niyo when we have different opinions of what filipinoness means. i dont think "gets" niyo. napakalawak ng pilipinas it goes beyond than just that

"maybe putting too much national prestige on one ethnic group's language has fucked up regional dynamics" randos on twt: "so what you prefer english huh you dayuhan licker?!?!?" nuance is absolutely dead lmfao

trust me may bunot sakin ang dalawa πŸ₯΄ but geee why does the account that focuses on ph regional cultures wants the regions to be sincerely recognized for what they are and not be homogenized under the dominant culture that filipino is pushing wowowow i wonder why??????

Its so surreal to be reading the late Resil Mojares amid PH language discourse flaring up again. Some folks acting like its the 20th century and think a monocultural homogenous ethno-state is gonna be the cure to all our problems and not... the terrible idea it always was

my new favorite thing is some folks calling it "pavictim mentality" because I guess accountability for their hegemony makes them very very uncomfortable

the funniest shit about this is sa cebu i often get mistaken as a tagalog bc the longer you talk to me, the more of my tagalisms come out πŸ’€πŸ’€ yet cebuanos ive met have not given me shit about this and some even encouraged me to speak tagalog to be more comfortable

pero tangina niyo kung alam niyo lang ang mga language dynamics outside your bubble. with how i grew in mindanao language is tied to class, and yes tagalog also plays a part in it. you lot confuse submission with unity so much and youre wondering people have issues with it πŸ™„

why are nationalists pushing people to love filipino as a "sariling wika". Its literally not to a significant number of us πŸ’€ maybe idk the reason why some cebuanos are agressive about it is bc they love their "sariling wika" too much, which is surprise- not tagalog

maybe toxic regionalism wouldnt be so ramphant if our diversity is truly recognized rather than just used as a cultural prop or a trending loanword but thats too much apparently

also the real inclusive tagalog dialect is found in south-central mindanao than whatever bullshit kwf throws around but a lot of people are not ready for that for very obvious reasons

tryhard pacool loser behavior when you use our terms like yawa boang bilat ngani bai to hop on trendy vocab or our words like puhon padayon amping duyog dilaab to name your cultural events or aesthetic brands but then go on to say "bisaya" derogatorily
why are tagalogs obsessed with hating visayans yet using random ass words from cebuano and stuff, bakit lahat ng tagalogs ngayon nag ng-ngani, bai, etc.... pero naghahate sa buong visayas liek nagatawag sila sa buong visayas ng "dds" at damo iban na insulto liek why
