Rat Droppings to Rotten Food: Shah Ghouse, Pista House, Hotel Nayaab among 14 eateries face licence suspension in Hyderabad
Unhygienic kitchens, cockroach and housefly infestations, rat droppings, rotten vegetables and expired food articles were among the violations found during a special food safety drive conducted by the Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) across Golconda and Charminar zones on Saturday.
Officials suspended the FSSAI licences of 14 restaurants and ordered them to stop operations immediately. Another eight establishments were issued show-cause notices following inspections by 22 enforcement teams comprising Food Safety Officers and police personnel.
Shah Ghouse Cafe at Shalibanda, Hotel Nayaab at Nayapool, Lucky Restaurant at Santosh Nagar, Mehfil Restaurant at Dilsukhnagar and Sohail Restaurant at Malakpet were among the establishments whose licences were suspended.
During the inspections, officials found food articles stored improperly, raw meat and vegetarian food kept together, fungal contamination of vegetables, expired food products and repeated use of cooking oil. Kitchens in several establishments had greasy chimneys, damaged flooring, stagnant water and poor drainage. Food handlers were also found working without hairnets and aprons. In some kitchens, officials reported live cats, cockroaches and rat droppings.
14 Restaurants Ordered to Stop Operations
The other establishments facing licence suspension include Hotel Sri Raghavendra Udupi Veg at Brindavan Colony Road, Tolichowki, Sri Balaji Family Dhaba at Gudi Malkapur, Siddique Kabab Central Kitchen at Gudimalkapur, Alsaba Hotel at Tolichowki, another Hotel Sri Raghavendra Udupi Veg at Santosh Nagar, Dine Hill Restaurant at Masab Tank, Hotel Akshaya Tiffins and Hotel Venkateshwara at MJR Road, and Aeezebo The Royal Arabian Restaurant at Salarjung Colony, Rethibowli.
Eight Establishments Issued Notices
TG SAFE issued show-cause notices to Taj Falaknuma Palace at Engine Bowli, Hotel Sabzi at Charminar, Pista House at Shahalibanda, Sweekar Hotel at Santosh Nagar, Mandi at 36 Arabian Kitchen at Charminar, Golconda Hotel and Resorts at Masab Tank, Imperial Multicuisine Restaurant at Tolichowki and Taiba Bakery at Bazarghat.
