This is roughly where every single one of Cristiano Ronaldo’s 985 goals came from. A true goat of the beautiful game. 15 more to go. 🐐

BMERC/UCT MedTech hosted the merSETA Lion’s Den, the capstone of the UCT/merSETA Industrialisation Fellowship. Eleven fellows had eight minutes each to pitch their innovations and answer tough questions on evidence, risk and the road to market.
First place and R5,000 in research funds went to Maseeha Vania for her implantable lymphatic drainage device.
Second place and R3,000 went to Malihah Abraham for her neonatal transfer bed. Gaby Lups and Liam McEvoy shared third place. Gaby pitched from India with a prerecorded presentation and joined live for questions.
Congratulations to every fellow who stepped into the den. Thank you to Dr Harry Teifel, Prof Richard Hall, and Laura Harris, Pride Chuene and Tsholo Mungoni of merSETA, as well as everyone who joined and supported.

Research methods can be confusing, especially when you hear terms like quantitative, qualitative, descriptive, experimental, correlational, etc.
Let’s break them down simply. 🧵👇🏾

It was also Edmund Wessels' last day with the team, and he spent it exactly where he belongs, at the braai. We sent him off with a gift and a lot of love.
Thank you also to Shireen Maharaj and Raeesa Ismail for organising the event.
