🚨 🚨 An accident is traumatic enough. Being left stranded by the police for over TWO HOURS, with a FIVE-YEAR-OLD CHILD and a SENIOR CITIZEN (My Mother), is simply unacceptable.🚨 🚨
1️⃣ On 31 October 2026, at approximately 11:01 PM, our family met with a serious road accident near GAIL Service Station, Bagaluru Road, while travelling from KIAL towards Whitefield. A speeding Mahindra Thar (KA 01 NC 6868) rammed into our Tata Punch (KA 53 MM 7661). The impact deployed the airbags, left our car completely immobilised and caused minor injuries to the occupants - @AditiDoon @myr179
2️⃣ The actual accident footage is attached to this post. Senior Karnataka Police officials are requested to watch the video and examine the circumstances and severity of the collision.
3️⃣ Despite repeatedly contacting Chikkajala Traffic Police, our family was left stranded at the accident spot for over TWO HOURS. No assistance vehicle was made available. We eventually had to arrange our own transportation to the police station, leaving our severely damaged and unsecured vehicle abandoned on the roadside.
⁉️ What followed raises even more serious questions.⁉️
4️⃣ Despite repeated requests, the accident scene was not inspected and documented while our vehicle was still at the location. We were given varying explanations, including staff unavailability, the need to register an FIR first and that a spot inspection could only be conducted during daytime.
5️⃣ This raises serious concerns about compliance with Rule 150A read with Clause 1 of Annexure XIII of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, which prescribe accident investigation procedures, including scene inspection, photography, video recording and preparation of a site plan.
6️⃣ We then had to independently arrange towing, wait for hours and manage the vehicle handover at approximately 4:30 AM.
7️⃣ An FIR (181/2026) has since been registered, naming the Thar driver. Both vehicles are reportedly being retained for RTO inspection.
8️⃣ We demand answers and immediate intervention from senior Karnataka Police officials:
1. Why was a family left stranded for over two hours after a serious road accident?
2. Why was the accident scene not inspected and documented despite repeated requests while the damaged vehicle was still there?
3. Who is accountable for the apparent lapses in the initial police response and investigation?
4. Why should accident victims have to independently arrange transportation, towing and manage basic formalities?
5. When will the RTO inspection be completed and our Tata Punch released? There must be no unnecessary retention of the vehicle.
9️⃣ We have preserved dashcam footage, photographs, videos of the accident scene, recordings of our interactions with police personnel and the video of the vehicle handover. The accident footage is attached to this post for immediate reference.
🔟 We are NOT asking for special treatment. We are asking for the police to follow prescribed procedures, preserve evidence, act responsibly and treat accident victims with basic consideration.
AN ACCIDENT VICTIM SHOULD NOT HAVE TO FIGHT THE SYSTEM AFTER SURVIVING A ROAD ACCIDENT.
Senior Karnataka Police officials, we seek your immediate intervention, accountability and a time-bound resolution. This matter deserves attention at the highest level.

How to book an ₹18,000 flight for just ₹3,000 in taxes 🧵✈️
Most people redeem credit card points for ₹0.25 cashback or shopping vouchers.
Here is the 3-step loop using HSBC
TravelOne + Avios:
1. Stack Spends: Use HSBC TravelOne for daily expenses & travel spends.
2. The 1:1 Bridge: Transfer points instantly (1:1) to Avios (Qatar Airways Privilege Club / British Airways).
3. The Partner Play: Don’t just book BA or Qatar. Use Avios to search Oneworld partner awards like SriLankan Airlines (e.g., Colombo / Malé).
The Math:
• Cash Ticket: ~₹18,000
• Points Used: ~10k–12k Avios
• Cash Paid: ₹3,000 (Govt taxes only)
• Savings: ₹15,000+ (83% off)
Stop burning points on vouchers. Airline alliances are where the real 5x–6x value lives. 🛫

I just completed a family trip covering Agra, Fatehpur Sikri, Mathura-Vrindavan & Delhi.
👨👩👧👦 4 adults + 1 child
💰 Actual spend: ~₹1 lakh
🏨 Flights, trains, hotels & cabs
💸 Estimated cost without rewards: ₹1.6L+
That’s 40%+ savings using credit cards, points & a little negotiation. Bookmark.
Here’s the full breakdown 🧵👇
1/ ✈️ FLIGHTS: DEL–BBI
I had ~22K Maharaja Points from my IDFC Vistara days.
Transferred ~4K Edge Miles to top up to 30K Maharaja Points and booked 4 Air India award tickets.
• Revenue fare: ₹9K+ per ticket
• Taxes paid: ~₹4K total
Even after taxes, the redemption delivered roughly ₹1.1 per Maharaja Point.
Not bad for points that were already sitting in my account!
2/ ✈️ THE 5TH FLIGHT TICKET
Booked through the IDFC app using my Wealth card.
Why this route?
✅ Flat ₹1,000 discount
✅ Redeemed ₹2,000 worth of points
✅ Earned accelerated rewards
✅ Free cancellation cover up to ₹10,000
Net ticket cost: under ₹5,700.
The free cancellation cover was an important factor in choosing this card.
3/ 🚆 TRAIN: BHUBANESWAR–AGRA
Booked 5 First AC tickets worth ~₹20,500 using my PhonePe card.
Expected reward value: ~9%.
Why leave rewards on the table when you can earn on a big family booking? Always check the applicable reward caps and exclusions before booking.
4/ 🏨 AGRA: AMEX → MARRIOTT BONVOY
This is where the points game got interesting!
I had accumulated 125K+ Amex Membership Rewards points over the past year.
Transferred 81K points to Marriott Bonvoy and booked 2 Superior Rooms at Courtyard by Marriott, Agra, for 3 nights.
• Booking-time cash price: ~₹60K
• Price before check-in later dropped to ~₹45K
At the original booking price, the redemption looked excellent. But always value points against the price you would actually have paid, not just the highest displayed rate.
5/ 🍳 THE BONUS WIN
I emailed Marriott and explained that I was travelling with senior citizens.
I requested complimentary breakfast, and Marriott graciously approved it for our stay.
Kudos to the team!
A polite email can sometimes unlock benefits that aren't listed on your booking confirmation. 🙂
Places covered: Taj Mahal, Agra Fort area, Baby Taj, Fatehpur Sikri, Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, Gwalior Fort & Jai Vilas Palace.
6/ 🏨 VRINDAVAN: STACKING REWARDS
Booked a local 4-star resort for 2 rooms and 2 nights.
• Total cost: ~₹16K
• Payment: Travel One card
• Expected Accor value back: ~8.8%
• Also helped me fulfil an Accor bonus offer
With the bonus factored in, the effective return was over 10%, based on my estimates.
And of course, we visited the major temples, including the stunning Banke Bihari Ji. 🙏
7/ 🏨 DELHI: HOPPER WALLET WIN
Booked a transit hotel near Connaught Place for 2 rooms.
• Amount paid: ~₹3K
• Comparable cash price: ~₹12K
• Payment source: Hopper wallet accumulated through price matches
That’s roughly ₹9K saved on just one night!
We also explored Delhi’s major sights, including the complete exhibition tour at Akshardham.
8/ 🚕 CABS: NEVER IGNORE NEGOTIATION
Used Goibibo extensively to pre-book cabs.
But I also negotiated directly with an offline cab operator and secured a better deal.
My rule: compare online prices, check inclusions, and negotiate before confirming.
Rewards are great. A lower base price is even better!
9/ ✈️ AIRPORT LOUNGE ACCESS: ANOTHER ₹5,000+ SAVED!
Used my Axis Atlas to get lounge access for 3 family members, while my wife used her Travel One card for her lounge access from Terminal 2.
💳 2 cards
👨👩👧👦 Family travel - Unlimited food & soft drinks
💰 Estimated savings: ₹5,000+
Another reminder that the right credit cards can save you money even before you board your flight!
10/ 💰 THE FINAL MATH
Estimated trip cost without these savings: ₹1,60,000+
Actual overall spend: ~₹1,00,000
Estimated savings: ₹60,000+
Savings rate: 40%+
The trip included flights, First AC trains, hotels for the family, and local transport across multiple destinations.
No compromising on the family experience. Just better use of rewards, offers, and negotiation.
11/ 🧠 MY TAKEAWAYS FOR THE CCGEEK COMMUNITY
✅ Don't let old loyalty points go unused.
✅ Transfer points only when you have a clear redemption in mind.
✅ Compare award bookings with realistic cash rates.
✅ Stack card offers and loyalty bonuses where permitted.
✅ Ask hotels politely for benefits, especially when travelling with family.
✅ Don't overlook cancellation benefits.
✅ Negotiate cabs and compare hotel rates before paying.
Credit cards aren't just about cashback. Used strategically, they can meaningfully reduce the cost of family travel.
What would you optimise differently in this itinerary?
