Tanielu Maafala-Barbasa has been an early benefactor of new eligibility rules. The true freshman has played 47 snaps at defensive tackle through Wyoming’s first two games.
Oh, and he just turned 17 years old.
“My plan was to enroll as early as I could, come ball out and try to get a spot to play.”

yessir!!
Wyoming recently snagged a pair of undersized freshmen out of Arbor View High School in Las Vegas. That young duo has since added a combined 60-plus pounds. Oh, they can play, too.

Behind the podium last week in Las Vegas, Jay Sawvel openly questioned how he could deny two freshmen playing time in his secondary. He even brought up the word “starting.”

Big time 26’ DL and only 16. Pass rush Technician that constantly demands double teams and is a factor in the run game also

“A natural pass rusher with high end physical upside. Long arms, great first step and the closing speed to run down plays from behind.” -
