One of the biggest financial mistakes we’ve normalized is kicking our children out at 18 and calling it independence. An 18-year-old is legally an adult, but that doesn’t mean they’re financially prepared for the real world. We’ve been conditioned to believe that turning 18 means moving out, building a credit score, financing a car, opening credit cards, and spending the next 30 years feeding the financial machine. And we wonder why generations of families struggle to build wealth. What if we stopped raising our children to become consumers and started raising them to become financially independent? Teach them financial literacy. Teach them cash flow. Teach them how inflation destroys purchasing power and how appreciating assets can build wealth over time. Build a family structure where everyone contributes, learns, and grows. Stop pushing your children out just to prove they’re adults. Help them build a foundation so when they leave, they’re moving toward ownership, not financial survival. Living with your family while building wealth doesn’t make you poor. It can be one of the smartest financial decisions you make. Family is supposed to be a unit. Spiritually, physically, and financially. Build an ecosystem that can withstand economic cycles. Stop repeating generational financial mistakes and start building generational wealth. And here’s another thing. We don’t need to build our financial futures around the next $5,000 stimulus check. We need financial literacy, ownership, and systems that create lasting independence. Temporary relief may help people survive a crisis, but it doesn’t replace a financial foundation. Stop teaching your children how to survive inside the system. Teach them how to build a system that allows them to thrive. GOD. FAMILY. LEGACY. That’s how you change a family tree.
