A story about healthcare costs!
I’m expecting my 3rd baby in 5 years, so I’ve had a LOT of ultrasounds. I’m usually charged about $200 each time. My first ultrasound of this pregnancy, I was charged $2300.
Why? Something happening more often as hospitals buy up medical offices.

Huge congrats to @washingtonpost’s @tcfrankel for a big @LoebAwards win in the Features category for his “The Deadliest Workplace in America” gripping narrative! #LoebAwards
You say “Carnegie Mellon” and I think Pittsburgh.
But apparently they have campuses in Qatar and Rwanda. And now, with that $2 billion gift …. Miami?
This sounds awful
This back-to-school season, high school administrators, coaches, and local journalists from around the country described a similar phenomenon to @FOS: Sidelines and baselines have become increasingly populated with a new class of “private content creators,” often hired by players or their parents via casual, modest-sum agreements.
Social media has made sports-content creation into an accessible—and desirable—job. Meanwhile, the proliferation of NIL opportunities throughout the high school ranks has left young athletes and their families with an insatiable appetite for personalized photos and videos. (As one athletic director in Ohio puts it: “Everyone has a media company now.”)
For schools and state athletic associations, this crush of creators presents a new balancing act and operational headache—accommodating the demand for more coverage while also maintaining safe, orderly playing environments.
There is no universal (or perfect) playbook just yet

In some places it's so hot that roads are exploding, sending cars and trucks airborne: “I was shocked...You don’t ever want your road buckling — and definitely not like that.” wapo.st/4ghx2aX @tcfrankel @washingtonpost
Omg. Why isn’t this the standard?

A skirted toilet is what you want. Game changer for cleaning. I don't know why they're all not like that, except maybe that they tend to be slightly more expensive due to how they're made.
Why’s a toilet still so hard to clean?
Not the bowl. The outside with all its curves and nooks and those plastic caps that knock off easily. Clearly not designed by anyone who has ever cleaned a toilet.
In rural southeastern Georgia, you can see signs that the war with Iran is suddenly hot again. Gas prices jumped 40 cents in 2 days.
It’s blue skies just above the thick wildfire smoke that’s smothering Baltimore and blocking out the sun
