Pilot and IT security professional, based in Panama.
When something happens in the air or online, I post what's confirmed and name the source. No insults, no guesses. If I get something wrong, show me the source and I'll correct it.
A few examples below.
Is flying still safe? As a pilot, here are the numbers.
IATA 2025: 38.7 million flights, 51 accidents. One accident per 759,646 flights.
But 8 of those accidents were fatal, and 394 people died on board. The five-year average is 198.
Safe doesn't mean finished. Every investigation turns into new procedures, training and checklists. That's how aviation got this safe.
I work in IT. The text message is the new phishing email.
Verizon's 2026 breach report: in phishing simulations, attacks by SMS and phone succeeded about 40% more often than by email.
Email has filters and a "report" button. Your phone has you.
Simple rule: if a message or a call asks for a code, a password or a payment, hang up and call back the number you already have. Not the one they gave you.
Israel votes today.
About 7.3 million eligible voters (Central Elections Committee). 21.7% of Israelis are Arab (Central Bureau of Statistics). They vote in the same booths, on the same ballot.
The election committee had barred the two main Arab lists, Ra'am and the Joint List. On October 2, Israel's Supreme Court unanimously overturned it. Both are on the ballot today.
That's the part the word "apartheid" leaves out.
"There is no ceasefire in cyber."
That's Yossi Karadi, head of Israel's National Cyber Directorate, in an interview with Nextgov this year.
During the war, Iran sent hundreds of thousands of text messages to Israelis. Some told people not to go to the shelters "because they are closed."
In March, he said Iran-linked hackers had destroyed the data of more than 50 small Israeli companies. Most had existing security gaps. Companies with stronger protections weren't affected.
Basic security is part of the home front now.
I work in IT. One number from the 2026 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report every small business owner should see:
For the first time, more attacks got in through an unpatched vulnerability (31%) than through stolen passwords (13%).
Only 26% of the critical vulnerabilities on CISA's "known exploited" list were fully patched in 2025.
Ransomware showed up in 48% of breaches.
If your firewall or VPN hasn't been updated in months, that's tomorrow's first task.
Thank you to the officers on duty. But consider what it takes: a police restriction so a Jewish arts and culture centre can open on a Sunday. CST recorded 1,926 antisemitic incidents in the UK in the first half of 2026. Protest the government, not a community centre.
As a pilot who also works in IT security, GPS jamming and spoofing is where my two worlds meet.
IATA's numbers: GNSS jamming incidents up 67% in 2025 compared with 2023. Spoofing up 193%.
Spoofing is the worse one. The signal isn't blocked, it's faked. The airplane believes it's somewhere else.
In IT we call that a man-in-the-middle attack. The defense is the same in both worlds: never trust a single source. In the cockpit, that means cross-checking with inertial navigation, ground radio aids and ATC.
As a pilot, I keep looking at this list.
Since October 6, Houthi missiles and drones have hit Saudi airports at least eight times: Riyadh, Abha, Dammam. More than 20 people killed. One of them was the pilot of a Saudia A320, destroyed on the ground in Riyadh.
On Wednesday it was Dammam again: 2 dead, 8 injured, per Saudi civil aviation (GACA).
Their spokesman warned airlines that Saudi airports are "potential targets."
A passenger terminal is not a military target.
This morning two gunmen opened fire on soldiers at Yehuda Junction, near Hebron.
Staff Sgt. Ron Yonatan Roytman, 23, from Ashkelon.
Sgt. Yuval Shai Svilem, 20, from Hod Hasharon.
One AP headline today: "Netanyahu's office orders closure of West Bank after soldiers kill 2 men behind an alleged attack."
May their memory be a blessing.
Guerra dopo guerra, distruzione dopo distruzione, efferatezza dopo efferatezza. Speriamo che la democrazia israeliana sappia reagire. E’ davvero l’ultima chiamata.
Anyone calling this propaganda can read Reuters. Maya Regev was shot at Nova, taken to Gaza in a pickup with her brother, and had surgery there as a hostage. She came home in a ceasefire deal. Denying that is not activism. It's cruelty.
Small correction: the suit asked for $115 million and was settled in 2012 with terms never disclosed. A settlement is not an admission, and no court ever ruled that Baron Cohen defamed anyone. "Forced to settle" is spin.
Sasha Baron Cohen falsely portrayed Palestinian Christian peace activist Ayman Abu Aita as a terrorist aligned with Bin Laden in his painfully unfunny film Bruno
Baron Cohen was forced to settle a $112 million defamation suit for the smear
This is the Zionist minstrel show actor the ADL chief censor says “has spent years confronting hate”
A year into the Gaza ceasefire, Haaretz reports Israeli intelligence told US officials that Hamas has no plan to disarm. Per the report, its tunnels are repaired, it keeps making weapons in areas it controls, and its ranks are back near pre-war levels.
Disarmament is the core of the 20-point plan. Without it, this is a pause, not peace.
A UK government review led by Sir David Bell found 3 in 5 Jewish pupils in English schools have experienced antisemitism. Fewer than half of pupils believe it would be dealt with if they reported it. Some Jewish school heads say they spend more time on security than on teaching. This starts in classrooms. That's where it has to stop.
Arab citizens of Israel vote, and Arab parties sit in the Knesset. The 23% figure only works by counting Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza, who are governed by the Palestinian Authority and Hamas. Their last presidential vote was 2005, the last legislative one 2006. This month the PA pushed elections again, to September 2027.
Worth reading the fine print. The ICC warrants issued for Netanyahu in November 2024 are for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Genocide is not among the charges. Pillay's call, made in an interview with El País, goes beyond any existing ICC case.
Nobel Peace Prize laureate Navi Pillay has called for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to stand trial for genocide in Gaza. trib.al/YAT9y9I
As a pilot, the key word in today's UK announcement is "defensive." RAF Typhoons will fly counter-air missions over Saudi cities, not strikes on the Houthis.
Fighters can catch drones and cruise missiles. A ballistic missile like the Houthi Palestine-2, reported at about 6,000 km/h, is a job for ground-based interceptors, not jets.
Battle of Britain memorial: who "The Few" were. About 2,900 airmen from Britain and over a dozen other countries, 544 killed in 1940.

Replying to @HeidiBachram
That memorial honours "The Few": about 2,900 airmen from Britain and over a dozen other countries, 544 of whom were killed in 1940 stopping the Nazis. A protest that smashes their wreaths is not about peace. It is about who they decided to hate.
