Oh how I loathe the Thomas Heatherwick-designed London Routemaster buses. Hardly any windows, no air-con. He designed the Olympic cauldron, then a diffusion range on wheels

For the avoidance of doubt, if you use AI to write a book, you’re not a writer. If you use it to finish your book, you’re a failed writer. If you use it to rewrite a book you’re not happy with, you’re a writer who cheats. Spell-checking? Absolutely fine. But no, being able to tell AI that you had a great idea about a dragon, a sushi restaurant and a cowboy-prince, and getting it to generate your story doesn’t make you a writer. It makes you someone who likes having silly fun with AI. And that’s fine too. But no, you’re not a writer.

Writers, is there a way to get fake UK car reg numbers for use in film/TV/books? I know where to go for phone numbers, but can't find a car equivalent. Don't want to implicate a real car in a fictional murder 😵💫

Life for a woman in Afghanistan is beyond belief. Many people may not know what happens outside the home — but what happens inside, behind closed doors, is even worse.
We are forced to endure abuse from both husbands and mothers-in-law. I cook, clean, and wash all day, but I’m still mistreated. My husband beats me.
Once, my mother-in-law told him that I was secretly studying on my phone — and he took my phone away. I feel completely trapped.
Sometimes I think about ending my life, but when I look at my little daughter, I stop — for her. Still, I feel powerless.
Yet whenever my husband is not home, I study in secret.
I want to share my voice with the world.
