Manchester City cheated Premier League rules, the Commission found. Did it also cheat HMRC?
We've examined the decision and leaked Mancini documents. We think City likely failed to pay £12m in tax.
There should be a criminal investigation.

FT exclusive: The Premier League football club’s Emirati chair, Khaldoon al-Mubarak, was granted immunity six years ago in a move that could complicate any legal action resulting from findings that it artificially inflated its finances by more than £900mn. ft.trib.al/eTmJM3f

Etihad Airways suing the Premier League is comedy.
1.Etihad and Man City are owned by the same people. The claim they had no idea about this for eight years is absurd.
2.The Premier League has no duty to produce witnesses for City. That’s City’s problem.
3.Etihad were in court because they have the same ownership group.
4. City can’t sue the league themselves after being proven GUILTY, so they’re using a related entity to try and BULLY EPL & get the case thrown out.
5.Lawfare and political pressure are the only remaining options for Man City, ironic after 18 years of insisting they aren’t state-owned that is this the tactic!
City acting like the mob and ordering dudes to be whacked?!
How anyone can support this filthy club is beyond me. The PL is going to have to be brave here and dismantle the club.
🚨 BREAKING NEWS: 🔥
THE MANCHESTER CITY WHISTLEBLOWER ESCAPES DEATH 🤯🤯
According to recent reports, there has been an assassination attempt on the life of Rui Pinto, the famous Football Leaks whistleblower. Tension has reached an all-time high following Manchester City's recent financial rule convictions, which were originally triggered by Pinto's massive repository of leaked internal emails and club documents.
The whistleblower, who has previously warned that a "devastating" new cache of unreleased files is on the way, narrowly survived the ambush.
Thankfully, he managed to escape unharmed using a bulletproof SUV.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
No reports of any assassination attempt or ambush on Rui Pinto exist. He suffered only a minor assault in April; Portuguese police ended his protected witness status this week citing low risk.

Etihad threatening to sue. UAE reportedly intimating that UK investment could be pulled. A Prime Minister couching any criticisism. If this sorry saga doesn't convince you that state ownership of football clubs should never be allowed, nothing ever will.

How can city fans not have enough brain cells to realise it was on MCFC to bring Etihad representation as a witness to show they had a proper deal.
It was not the responsibility of the PL.
City didn’t because Peter Baumgartner was all over the emails on fraudulent contracts.
He was the CCO of Etihad at the time.
Now go sit down Eithad Airways.
Replying to @sportingintel
There it is in black and white: Pearce saying that Etihad are actually only on the hook for £8m of £99m due for the relationship between the club and airline; which is why the independent commission said this particular relationship was one of the "sham" contracts 3/n
I’m sorry but City fans are some of the dumbest around.
This is genuinely crazy to me. 😂
How do you accuse City of inflating our revenues through sponsorships, yet our principal sponsor Etihad says it was never contacted or given an opportunity to participate in the investigation? 🤦
I hope people are finally starting to realise this case is far from over. There are legitimate questions about how the process was handled, and the appeal is going to be VERY interesting. 👀🩵

Is that the same Etihad Airways that’s solely owned by the Abu Dhabi Government the very same people that own Manchester City… for the love of god have they no shame 😳
Etihad Airways has said it is considering legal action against the Premier League, claiming the judgment published this week against Manchester City incorrectly suggests the club’s principal sponsor has been “involved in improper commercial arrangements”

City are throwing Etihad into the fight as one of their soldiers.
Do they realise there’s actual evidence showing Etihad’s involvement in those sham agreements?
At this point, they’re fighting a lost cause, and it’ll only make the eventual punishment worse.
Arrogant bunch of cheats.
🚨MAN CITY UPDATE - ETIHAD THREATENS PREMIER LEAGUE WITH LEGAL ACTION
😡Airline and City's major sponsor 'categorically rejects' PL panel finding it was involved in 'sham' deals
⚠️Explosive statement claims that PL has 'created damaging implications for Etihad' & warns it must now 'take responsibility for the consequences'
🗣️Also says 'at no time' was it consulted & will now seek legal counsel

A state-owned airline considering legal action, on top of Burnham's odd comments, only emphasises the mess of this
It's insane we're talking about a mere game, a cultural pursuit
Regardless of final outcome, this is WHY state actors shouldn't own clubs

Diabolical of the Premier League to tell rival clubs of the Man City charges first, guaranteeing a leak, at the start of the longest international break of all time.
Then, as the full attention of the world was focused on this singular topic, they dropped the full, irrefutable details.
Now there will be 10 more days of insane, one-topic scrutiny. This will ensure the independent panel's view and its implications are SEARED into our brains.
PR dark arts designed for maximum devastation. Quite impressive and indicative of how this will run.

This was Arséne Wenger's Arsenal strongest Starting Lineup when Abu Dhabi purchased Manchester City in 2008.
In 2008, Arsenal Football Club were valued at £600m and Manchester City valued at £200m.
Over the next 6 years, Manchester City had signed 50% of the outfield players from this very Arsenal team on massive wages, unaffordable to Arsenal.
➖ Gael Clichy
➖ Bakary Sagna.
➖ Kolo Toure
➖ Emmanuel Adebayor
➖ Samir Nasri
All financed by illegal financial doping.
When you hear about Premier League teams preparing to sue Manchester City for damages if City loose their appeal, you will think those clubs are just jealous of City's recent success.
It's not about being jealous, Manchester City really stepped on other Club's toes while building their own history.

There needs to be a proper investigation into what happened between 2018-2026. I don't believe for one second they transformed their ethics overnight....

There’s no hiding from this. The Premier League’s statement has buried Manchester City who continue to claim they have irrefutable evidence that proves their innocence. Did they forget to take it with them to the hearing? Had a great discussion around this whole story earlier today with @__scottsaunders, check it out. Links below.

This is as damning as it gets. There's no coming back from this. They are guilty of everything that everyone knew they were doing.
The football world cannot allow them to continue to participate in elite competition.

The most damning part of the Man City investigation is that despite being found guilty on every level by an independent commission - they still refuse to accept any responsibility or show any contrition.
They care nothing for the sport, the fans, the players.
They should cease to exist.
