While welcome, the pace of progress is far too slow. We the Government to take action and confirm the commencement date for the standalone offence for abusing a retail worker.

Great to show MP @JadeBotterill round her local Tesco Express, hearing from store manager Mo about Tesco's Stronger Starts scheme, which supports schools and charities🤝
With the Budget a week away, it is vital that Govt supports retailers who create jobs and drive growth🛒
Scotland has to compete for retail investment, and under the current system, retailers pay significantly more than their counterparts in England.
This imbalance stifles growth and hurts Scotland's largest private-sector employer.

Intense competition in the grocery market has helped to stem rising inflation, even as fuel prices have risen sharply🥕
Retailers will need support at the Budget in order to keep a handle on the cost of living🛒
More analysis from our Lead economist Harvir⬇️
Replying to @HarvirDhillon
Despite the rise in goods prices, the surprise has been how subdued inflation has been in retail categories of good. Food inflation was unchanged, and clothing is more or less flat. Furniture additionally is yet to show signs of a meaningful pick up.

The Packaging Recovery Note (PRN) system was designed to improve the UK's recycling. In reality, it has piled costs onto retailers and producers, while recycling rates have fallen.
The BRC, @Foodanddrinkfed, and @BritSoftDrinks agree - time for a rethink.
