In boxing, if your opponent knows you won’t throw back anything threatening, they start getting bold. They start throwing shots they normally wouldn’t because they don’t fear retaliation, and this becomes their advantage and your demise Life is similar. If you only play defense eventually a lucky shot will catch you and put you out. The best defense requires equally good offense for this reason. You must be on the attack always. The second your enemies or even the universe see weakness they will pour it on. This is why the saying “when it rains it pours” even exists. The hungry don’t get fed, those who want, receive nothing, and those who need nothing receive everything. Is it fair? Absolutely not. The game has been rigged from the start to favor those who can hit back and always keep a healthy level of fear in those across from them. Don’t be a punching bag. Fight back. Be dangerous. Always have an edge. Momentum is real and the very laws of physics govern more than just matter. They also account for your advantages and disadvantages. An object in motion stays in motion and an object at rest gets destroyed. Keep fighting.

The brain cannot grasp eternity; “never again” creates panic, but “not today” gives the nervous system space to act. Dopamine understands only the present, so win the day in front of you, then win the next, until the wins stack so high they become your identity.

The mind that seeks formulas will never find truth. The mind that chases methods will never touch mastery. What I'm about to share destroys every framework you've been taught. This is thinking at the level where answers emerge from silence, not systems…

Poverty robs people of many things, and one of them is the nobility to see yourself as worthy and consequential enough to fight for a cause you believe in. This is why many revolutions—whether for a good or bad cause—are often spearheaded by dissenters from the wealthy class.
As a general rule, revolutions are birthed by wealthy class traitors. The poor do not have the time or resources to do all that.

Not sure when it happened but for some reason it’s like I almost can’t let myself go back to being “normal”, to being unconscious. It feels incredibly wrong to just ignore asking the big questions in life and act like they’re not there. I wonder sometimes what my life would look like if I never strayed so far from the normal life, if I never explored what I explored and figured out what I figured out. It’s nothing outrageous but I don’t think I could just go back to a normal life and act like everything is fine, like it’s a life I would deem to be good and well lived. “Normal” things are cool in a sense but too much of it and I feel alienated. It feels too shallow. Somewhere along the way I started craving depth - depth in knowledge, relationships, existence, etc. I am honestly not convinced that my life is better than a normal one, there’s a kind of beauty to both of them in a sense I suppose but for me personally I think I’ll go for the deeper life. For some reason it feels like it’s calling for me. Maybe I’m just imagining things, that’s a very real possibility. Still, I’ll go for it, and who knows… maybe I’ll find some answers or hypotheses which’ll be useful to all of us or at least to some.
I’ll tell you a short story, Tosin. Before I do, I want you to imagine a few scenarios to put it in context. Picture yourself sitting in your living room late at night, doing something utterly mundane maybe scrolling Twitter or eating. And then NEPA strikes, the power goes off. You know that brief moment of disorientation that follows? It’s very quick, more like a flicker of awareness where you remember again that darkness is actually the default at night, and light was just a borrowed convenience. Alternatively, think of when you go to a party and suddenly the DJ stops the music. The silence that follows is usually very strange. It reveals how much the noise was hiding. It’s also a very quick moment that jolts you to a different reality. This was same for me. It happened pretty early on in my life. That day, nothing tragic had happened. Nobody died or any of the sort. It was just an ordinary day, and I was alone in my room. Out of nowhere, I started to cry. You wouldn’t believe why I was crying lol. It just suddenly dawned on me that I am going to die. It was just one brief moment I realized, in my body, that I am going to die. Now, it’s one thing to know you’ll die, everybody knows that conceptually. But it’s another thing entirely to feel it physically without a triggering event. That’s how I felt. That someday, the person I call “I”, with all his thoughts and questions and strange, burning curiosities, will simply vanish in a real, undeniable, unremarkable way. A total and complete off switch. Mind you, I wasn’t thinking about death that day. Can’t remember where my mind went to but all of a sudden, it hit me so violently, I could feel the chills physically. The tears seemed to have come from somewhere too deep to name. Something fell off my eyes that day and something older grew in their place. I can’t explain it, but that day I could sense that something invisible had shifted. I know it wasn’t sadness or even fear. It was something much colder, more primal. It was chilling, clinical and viscerally clarifying. The world didn’t fall apart per se, it just tilted a bit. Since then, I’ve never been able to live at the surface of things. That moment turned me toward the truth. I can’t not ask why: we’re here, why we believe what we believe, why no one seems to notice the rituals we perform without question. I can be walking through the magnificent roads of NY as a big shot lawyer in a suit, and I still feel what the subway feels. I notice the contrast in very elementary things. I can comfortably connect random, unusual things that most people around me don’t seem to notice. I sometimes miss the period before it in a sense. When I was younger, I would go into my head for a minute and then snap back to reality. It would feel weird for a while, but then I would adapt and continue playing. I miss being able to snap back. I think that day i got in, had the rare privilege to witness the edges of my own mortality, and I think I never fully snapped back. Even when I don’t intend to, I’m unconsciously conscious of every current around me. It’s a kind of unbearable aliveness to everything.

where you remember again that DARKNESS IS ACTUALLY THE DEFAULT AT NIGHT, AND LIGHT WAS JUST A BORROWED CONVENIENCE. Bro!

Many highly intelligent individuals are seduced by their lust for contemplation - often that which ensnares their lifeblood with feral passion is also the source of their total undoing. Self-consuming brilliance is rarely truly brilliant. What is the point of superior metacognition if it devours motion, swallows meaningful focus, and leaves the arrow forever unreleased? Wisdom lies in the transmutation of thought into released aim. To choose, to act, to risk - is the merciful blade. Metacognition is crowned when it serves praxis, this is the paradox of its nature.

•what led to your awakening? •how does it feel like looking back at what the world used to be for you? •do people choose to awaken, or it just happens? the world has never felt the same to me since 2023. also, it seems there are multiple awakening; like it keeps unravelling

I remember watching the movie “Fault in Our Stars” a few years ago, it was when I first fell in love with Amsterdam on a screen. A dreamy city of bicycles and canals. Its quiet beauty felt so far removed from reality in my one bedroom apartment in Ikorodu, with nothing but a mattress on the floor. At the time, I had never even been on a plane. My only way of navigating the world was through books and movies. It became my greatest ambition to someday visit, maybe even live in this city. I imagined walking its streets with a lover, holding hands, and finally living the perfect life I had always desired. Today, I’m in Amsterdam, albeit briefly. Exhausted from many work travels, homesick, and yearning to be back home in Lagos. Life is strange. Some of the dreams I once held in wonder have come true, but my problems haven’t magically disappeared, they’ve only taken different forms. Don’t get me wrong, I’m deeply grateful that life is kinder to me now. Yet, I still feel this quiet emptiness in knowing I’ve lost a little of that innocence and deep sense of wonder I once carried. I may have given in to some cynicism about the world. My dreams today are much different and grounded in responsibility. But perhaps that is what it means to be a dreamer: to learn that even when dreams come true, they give birth to new longings….
