Iverson Cut+Elbow Get vs Horn Get
We love Horns Get: Amen pass to Alp @ elbow & follow it for a downhill handoff. As shown previously, you can't hedge the handoff or Alp spins for a dunk
Without Alp, we chose Iverson Cut to help Jabari. I explain how we can use I-Cut to set up flow should defense hedge off Jabari preventing the handoff. We discuss flowing into Peja, coming towards KD for Pistol and drag.
I know fans like seeing Scram Switches, but how about a block by the scram switcher!
Nice defense by Durant.

@ZachLowe_NBA: “I love the split actions they’re running w/Sengun as the trigger man, and all they’re guys screening for each other and creating mismatches. I really like the way they’re playing”

Les Rockets jouent beaucoup de Post Up split pour exploiter la gravité de shoot de Sheppard et ça marche !
Jabari feinte de glisser un écran de démarquage 👉 Flemings reste collé à Reed et BADABOOM LE DUNK
Compare this to vid quoted below.
This is Horns Split/Peja, & why Dort jumps it in vid quoted below, which doesn't work, either, when KD Rejects
So, this is man D version, difficult to cover
Horns Split Peja
h/t to Rick Adelman inventing Peja. Used alot by the Rox this year
Durant backdoor cut Watch, again
Horns Split/Rejected/Into Spain
KD rejects due to Dort's overplay, good recovery by Dort stops slip pass, prompts KD to go into Spain
2nd vid shows example of not rejecting
Sheppard w/bad read, Sengun dissappointed, but his gravity man, he'll see the pass next time. Maybe he was predetermined shooting there, and didn't expect the D to come to him
Power of Amen's gravity when threatening slip of perimeter split actions
21 Delay with sideline split action -- KD/Amen
2 plays within 3 possessions
1. D switches, mismatch allows KD to dribble penetrate for his middie game, unimpeded
2. Amen draws 2 defender, wide-open KD 3
Durant backdoor cut Watch, again
Horns Split/Rejected/Into Spain
KD rejects due to Dort's overplay, good recovery by Dort stops slip pass, prompts KD to go into Spain
2nd vid shows example of not rejecting
Sheppard w/bad read, Sengun dissappointed, but his gravity man, he'll see the pass next time. Maybe he was predetermined shooting there, and didn't expect the D to come to him
New Play was run again, camouflaged
-Pistol + Knicks Screen, Shallow Cut takes away tag man, leaving Amen at the rim
-camouflaged by hiding set-up man Jabari in the corner, w/ghost screener initiating
-Ghost becomes swing passer in Knicks, then shallow cuts to take tag man
Downhill PnR again
-Pistol to Knicks Screen with FVV / Alp going downhill (see quoted vid)
-Setup screen for KD/Alp downhill
-And this one, STS with Durant screen & pops for FVV, helping shed Kingston, Alp step-up is unimpeded.
Dort cant leave KD/easy pocket pass/alp downhill
Nice SLOB here for a slam dunk
SLOB Triangle
Inbound to KD in corner, Alp picks for the inbounder FVV, then slips, causing a defensive mistake for a slam.
New Play Alert! First play of game
Pretty sure we didnt run this last yr. But chat hp can make mistakes, so check important information
Pistol into Knicks Screen
Knicks Screen is a swing pass followed by step up screen into downhill PnR. Watch how it strings out PnR defense
Alp's big Tomahawk slam
But let's discuss how we got Reed free to run the PnR with Alp for an easy pocket pass. Reed darts out of the corner for handoff from Amen into PnR on the run
Defense is out of their normal PnR lanes and doesnt know it's coming. Reed's gravity on display
Horns Get again, for Amen. Fumbled ball by Alp, and Amen picks off the ground and still completes the easy bucket.
with instant replay
notice the little V-cut again. One of the coaches must have suggested that.
Wow, we already added a wrinkle to our Punch Action we ran down the throat of SAS's (see quoted vid for Spurs version)
Punch with Split Action, but Amen comes at different angle from weakside, rather than part of the Punch setup
D doesn't see it coming. Amen slip! KD open too
Amen does it again. 3rd Drive, collapse D, find open 3pt shooter. Wide open, I might add.
See quoted vid for other two.
Amen's drive and spin move, with instant replay.
Second time we've run PnR with Amen and a deadly shooter. First was Reed. This time Durant.
Neither time does Amen get a very good good, but both times he still gets enough of a step to get the lane.
Great game by Amen, so far.
Horns Get for Amen slam
Rox really like this play. But it's becoming hard to execute the Alp to Amen hand-off. Defense is jumping it making hand-off tough, or going under Sengun to meet Amen on otherside of the hand-off.
So, here Amen does a V-cut to fake Horns Away first. Boom
