2 facts in the IIT suicide issue:
1. There was no faculty reservation at IITs till 2008. Even today >80% of IIT faculty from privileged castes. So who is to blame for "falling academic standards"?
2. Sahil had a CGPA of 8.5. That does not indicate academic weakness..

Even before becoming mayor, Mamdani didn’t protest Netanyahu at the UN General Assembly last year, and now he says he won’t join protests against him this year either.
I don’t understand how someone who campaigned on arresting Netanyahu can now punt the issue to the federal government without even protesting him, while hosting Trump at Gracie Mansion.
But hey, maybe this is the 8D chess y’all have been talking about. Maybe he’ll convince Trump to arrest Netanyahu at Gracie Mansion and I’ll eat my words.
I’m really so disgusted, as Netanyahu is saying he’s going to finish the job in Gaza, Mamdani didn’t even protest him when he was in NYC a few days ago for the general assembly, a far cry from his previous calls to arrest him.
But for those who still defend this and don’t realize how harmful it is to Palestinians here’s a breakdown:
He begins with “I condemn Hamas, of course.” By leading with this, he sets the stage that any discussion about Palestine must start with denouncing Palestinian resistance. That “of course” is especially insidious, it normalizes the expectation that condemning resistance is the baseline, unquestionable position.
He calls Oct. 7 “a horrific war crime.” This treats an act of resistance against a colonizer as equivalent to the ongoing structural violence of settler colonialism. It accepts the lies that Israel has brainwashed the world with to manufacture consent for genocide. The framing strips the event of its context, 75+ years of occupation, dispossession, massacres, siege, and turns it into a crime in isolation.
He then says, “the same set of beliefs… led me to describe what’s happening in Gaza as genocide.” This ties his recognition of genocide to the same “principled” framework that led him to condemn Palestinian resistance. It creates a false equivalence: as if condemning Hamas and condemning Israeli genocide flow from the same universal principle of international law.
But genocide and resistance cannot be equated. One is the annihilation of a people. The other is the struggle of the colonized to survive.
This is especially harmful as he positions himself as morally consistent and principled, but in practice he legitimizes Zionist narratives. By lumping Palestinian resistance and Israeli genocide together under the banner of “universal law,” he erases the material imbalance of power, Palestinians are being annihilated, Israel is the annihilator.
This rhetoric gives cover to liberals and Zionists alike: they can point to him and say, “See, even your allies condemn Hamas while acknowledging genocide. This is the reasonable middle ground. But that “middle ground” is built on dehumanizing Palestinians, stripping them of the right to resist their annihilation.
Zohran’s statement is insidious because it weaponizes the language of universality and human rights to flatten colonizer and colonized, resistance and genocide, into the same moral category. That false equivalence misrepresents reality and actively strengthens the Zionist framework at the very moment Palestinians most need their humanity affirmed.

pop-psychology is so politically conservative as it severs individual suffering from the social relations in which that individual exists. and the social alienation is particularly more vicious under caste. their humiliation has history and institutions behind it (1/n)
access to justice is liberal fiction when, victim occupies the weaker side of institutional hierarchy. the very fact that the account of victim's family is interrogated while the institution's word is accepted tells you that caste also decides whose suffering is credible (5/n)

It’s actually so funny watching people who learned about Palestine three years ago lecture Sudanese people. Sudanis were fighting alongside Palestinians in 1948, before Sudan was even independent. Our solidarity is older than whatever activism y’all think you’re doing online
And at the end of the day, Sudanese people have always been in solidarity with Palestinians and vice versa.. so people using Palestine to take away from the violence in Sudan are nothing but controlled opposition. You cannot put two peoples against each other that have historically always stood with one another.
i need to get active on this god awful app again, or at least start reading the news. i can't let having a job and being depressed get in the way of finding out, a week late, that ansarallah kicked saudi's ass.

I will never forgive the world for hearing that migratory birds were changing their routes to stop in Sudan and feast on the dead bodies scattered across the streets and moving on with their lives as if that isn’t one of the worst things you can possibly imagine
"what proletariat needs is marxism, not feminism". i have war flashbacks. i barely survived that one 😭

i lost my mom six hours away from home. when i was in the car, travelling back, i remember being more angry than sad initially. i despised every single person sitting inside the cars that passed me. i hated that they were driving, living life like the world hadn’t just ended +
