At long last, I interviewed fashion’s wildest dude. Gift link for ya: wapo.st/3SMfGsL
In all the indie sleaze yadayada we never discussed whether the Arcade Fire thing of the percussionist rhythmically ripping pages out of a book (the Bible?) onstage was cool or cringe. i feel it was neither but rather an impt hipster category: tender fun

Reminder: the screening of Marie Antoinette in 2006 was, along with the one for The Wolf of Wall Street in 2013, the most "politique" I've attended—critics' responses, even instant and nonverbal, marked a clear line in cinematic ideology.
The Marie Antoinette wars (cf. the sniffy reviews and the divisive @TheNYFF press screening) indeed heralded a revolution in cinematic style and taste—it's now aptly acclaimed, and its new restoration's NY première is at @ParisTheaterNYC at 6pm, +a Q. & A. with Sofia Coppola:...
I would rather be in Vogue because then I can just walk out of the slightly miniature door for cheese-making monks, rather than escaping out of the tiny fireplace that keeps a family of portly spoon-collecting mice (the Pipplefluffs) warm, which is what you will have to do in WSJ
The kind of designer we could really use at a big ole luxury brand right this minute…..
I’ll say it!!!!! it must be said!!!! Law Roach is doing a good job styling Kim Kardashian!!!!!!!!!!!

There are a lot of menswear accounts on here that don't resonate with me. Some talk about clothes that I find to be too boring (e.g., chinos with v-neck sweater) or too ugly (e.g., Peter Millar). Some talk about aesthetics that supposedly make the wearer look rich or traditional (e.g. preppy accounts), but I think fail to achieve that goal.
I suspect many of these accounts are run by young men, as their taste and knowledge suggest they are relatively new to the subject. But no one makes it about their gender (e.g., "Don't take menswear advice from men.").
IMO, it has nothing to do with gender; only taste and knowledge. I know many women who are very knowledgeable and have good taste in menswear, such as bespoke tailor Nina Penlington, bespoke shoemaker Emiko Matsuda, and Savas founder Savannah Yarborough (slide one).
Some of my favorite menswear articles were also written by women, such as this GQ article by @theprophetpizza that I constantly reference (slide two).
Additionally, some of my favorite menswear labels are designed by women, such as Chimala. And I regularly find myself taking menswear inspiration from women. I was just digging this outfit on IG loosethreadsrepair this morning (slide three). In 2019, I interviewed Nigel Cabourn designer Emilie Casiez for my blog, largely because I had been taking so much inspiration from her over the years, I wanted to get some tips for readers (slide four).
Only addressing this because I see this kind of comment often and I think people should focus more on the quality of the advice, rather than someone's gender. Some accounts may not resonate with me, but perhaps they resonate with others. IMO, more useful to the thoughtful about what you're consuming.

In this tribute to Ann Hornaday, @PhilipKennicott explains why she was so wonderful and gives examples. Gift link here. Read it, and like me, weep. washingtonpost.com/style/202…
pleased to report the biggest gasp at this morning’s baby-friendly screening of “You Can See Everything” came after the bizarro comments about Elizabeth Holmes’s postpartum body
“Of all artistic mediums,” she wrote in 2022, “cinema occupies the trickiest space between fabrication and reality, exploiting the porous nature of both to become a third thing entirely: the distortion of the literal truth that becomes internalized as consensus history”
Ann Hornaday, who championed the craft of filmmaking and helped readers understand the enduring magic and occasional disappointment of movies as The Post’s longtime chief film critic, died Oct. 18 at her home in Baltimore. She was 66.

I’ve not seen the new movie but for me the most sublime Nathan Fielder moment is the reveal of his perfect, too-scale replica of, of all places, The Alligator Lounge
Alarmed by the plague of barrel-leg pants, which seem to be the only silhouette available to women even though the trend is at least three years old, and which just makes me think of old timey unemployed fellas
