the fact that people are genuinely theorizing that elain is POSSESSED or secretly evil because she’s not acting the way they expected her to and doesn’t want lucien is actually insane. a woman exercising her own agency is so inconceivable to them that they’d rather believe she’s under some evil influence even going as far as saying it’s MAEVE pretending to be elain just so you can make her fit the agenda you built for her instead of accepting that she has desires of her own.
