If you're considering developing on Cardano, don't. You basically have to achieve building a full project to get a job. The job won't compete with broader software engineering opportunities. When you realize this, and try to get a Blockchain engineer job elsewhere, nobody will want to hire you because you worked on Cardano, not Solana or Ethereum.
Cardano developers, your input matters! Take few minutes to share your experience and help shape the future of the Cardano developer ecosystem. Your feedback will help guide priorities for tools, documentation and funding. 🗓️ Open until November 30, 2026. Take the survey: devsurvey.cardano.org/ @mattpiz

oMLX 0.7.3 is out! github.com/jundot/omlx/relea… Ask AI, the question bar for your local models in any app, now talks back. Press Option-Shift-Space, speak, and your model answers out loud with captions. It can also search the web, read links and look at your screen. Ask AI voice and tools - Voice runs on LFM3-Omni, LFM3-Audio and Qwen3-Omni. With LFM3-Omni 2B on an M3 Ultra, the first audio comes about 100 ms after you stop talking. - Cut in while it's speaking, or share your screen in the middle of a conversation. - Web search, link reading and screen capture work in both text and voice. - Prompt placeholders like {date}, {app} and {clipboard}. Faster DeepSeek V4.1 - INT8 Activation Prefill on M5 Ultra: 64K prefill 2,882 -> 3,507 tok/s (+22%), 195K 2,476 -> 3,200 tok/s (+29%). - 12 concurrent requests decode 56.3 -> 125.7 tok/s (+123%). - Engram prefetch adds another +15% to prefill at 128K. Many requests at once, much less memory - 8 Lightning MTP streams at 81K on Qwen3.8-Flash-Next: peak memory 248 -> 161 GiB (-35%), decode 180.7 -> 241.1 tok/s (+33%). - Batched decode on oQ models: 16 requests 146.9 -> 221.9 tok/s (+51%) on M3 Ultra, 8 requests +74% on M2 Max. - Hybrid Qwen models reuse a shared system prompt across conversations, TTFT 0.89 -> 0.25 s. Also in 0.7.3 - Update downloaded models by fetching only the files that changed. - Better oQ quants, KL drops 9-49% for under 5% more size. - LFM3 text, audio and d1 models, and Unlimited-OCR-2. - Temporary chats in the web UI. Thanks to everyone who sent PRs and tested the rc!

I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.

GPT-6 Astra has shattered all priors with AI game creation Introducing Astral War, built in a day with GPT-6 Astra Ultra (fast mode) Astral War is a browser-based, CoD World at War inspired @threejs + @MeshyAI + @ElevenLabs remix (and massive upgrade) of Modern Claudefare - a game I built/released about a month ago via Opus 5 This model is a HUGE, step-function leap in visual fidelity, gameplay mechanics, and attention to detail - and the limits were much more generous compared to Fable 5.1. @sama and the @OpenAIDevs team cooked 🫡 Select features: - Play as the living or the undead - Solo or online multiplayer* with other players and bots - Collect perks as killstreaks - Controller support - Voice chat (on private lobbies) *Multiplayer has real authoritative game servers for online multiplayer, up to 12-person lobbies; first time trying this compared to Modern Claudefare/Der Koloss’ PeerJS implementation! Let’s see how it goes 🤗 Play at astralwar.io

My take on MLX: (long rant/perspective ahead) I think there are several overlapping problems, each of them is holding local AI back on Apple devices. 1) Lack of real investment by Apple (as usual). Apple doesn’t even host the MLX repo under their own namespace. It is the primary method of running local inference on Mac devices but MLX has been essentially abandoned since the start of the year when Awni joined Anthropic, with no real hand off. It is frankly shameful Apple would let such an important project lie dormant, in maintenance mode with minor commits and no real innovation being worked on. When I brought MTP to Macs even before GGUF in April, there was someone else (AirRunner) who tried porting a simple version of MTP to MLX LM. TILL THIS DAY! It has not been merged to the repo. 3 months of work went into that branch and it has not been merged. Nvidia is not beloved because of the hardware. It is CUDA which is so good. On pure hardware maths, DeepSeek V4 flash should be able to run at 80+ TPS without D-Spark on an M3 Ultra. It is currently in the 30-40 range. Why? Because their aren’t mature kernels, MLX is the Wild West where people like me are left to do custom kernels (that never get merged) and become separate projects. Nvidia heavily contributed and incentivised the development of CUDA. Which is why two GARBAGE DGX sparks can run DeepSeek V4 flash faster than an M3 Ultra! The aggregate bandwidth of two sparks, no three sparks, NOT EVEN INCLUDING the latency of RDMA TP is less than an M3 ultra. It’s ridiculous. A parallel can be made with gaming, MacBooks could be absolute MONSTERS for gaming. Efficient ARM and a decent GPU. But Apple has done an abysmal job getting studios to port games to arm. When Nvidia made the spark laptop? He had Bond, Fortnite and several games ON LAUNCH. Because Jensen understands the importance of partnerships, which Apple has historically been terrible at and ignored. If Apple were to properly take over MLX, assign engineers to it, incentivise developers, accept and review contributions. MLX would be much better than it is now. It amazes me how Apple underestimates the importance of software and firmware nowadays. The BEST price/hardware for local AI inhibited only by poor developer relations and implementation. 2.) Hardware. The lack of floating point. Apple devices don’t hardware support low bit floating point precision, which is vastly superior for retaining accuracy at low quants. This has been available for years on Nvidia with FP8 and now NVFP4. This will change next year with the release of the M7. Right now developers are forced to hand tune individual layers from INT4, to INT8 or BF16 to retain quality and speed and avoid the emulation tax. But their are also people out there which release slop quants not caring about accuracy. I made this mistake by using an MLX community 4 bit flat quant with terrible KLD as the base of 3.6 Optimized Speed which has forever tarnished the reputation of MTPLX as “worse quality”. It’s a lack of resources too, it is not easy to learn these things. Nvidia publishes guides to NVFP4 and their own NVFP4 models while Apple does nothing. Final Notes: It will be very interesting to see where the local AI space goes in the coming years. Apple and Nvidia have separate weaknesses. Apple: amazing memory bandwidth and hardware for AI but poor firmware, software and kernels. Nvidia: great sheer compute, amazing firmware and kernels, stingy and cheap with hardware saving a bunch on the memory bus destroying bandwidth. Either Apple steps up their developer relations game, and invests in improvements to the ecosystem. Or Nvidia stops being cheap. 512 bit memory bus and/or newer unified memory. Whoever does one or the other wins local AI.
MLX side of Local AI is still a big mess, everyone creating their own MLX quantized models, all the same using same method just under their own huggingface repo, multiple inference engines, no real quality benchmarks. I hope few leaders will emerge soon so that this ecosystem can find its own way towards maturity and stability.

Introducing Bot Mode for Hermes Agent. Bot Mode is an alternative to sessions mode, where you have one chat with each agent profile, or "bot". These bots can be given jobs, descriptions, profile pics, and communicate with your other bots! For one day we will do a public beta test of Bot Mode for Hermes Desktop through this plugin: github.com/NousResearch/Herm… Give me all your feedback here on how it does for you, if it works as expected, any bugs. Then we'll address the feedback and get it into the main Desktop App for everyone!

2 months ago, AI was a chatbot that I occasionally used for random questions. Then I came across Ahmad’s posts about how it works and what it can do, and I knew immediately this was something I wanted to dedicate all my time and resource into and finally, my own sovereign AI. I started out with the goal of having my own AI assistant that is 100% private, that I can access anywhere using text, voice and vision. Currently building out the second brain infrastructure that can continuously improve itself, with actual long-term memory so it doesn’t just end up being another glorified chatbot. Afterwards, tie it into genomics research and VCF automation, and design my private console to drive and monitor the entire infrastructure. I’ll start sharing my journey in a way that isn’t just technical jargon, my hope is that it’ll inspire more people to get into AI to improve their everyday lives.
