now that we know pretty much everything, my opinion on ex-eidolons to get the obvious stuff out of the way, yeah it’d be better if they were just novaflares but 1 of them is given out for free so i don’t personally care too much, i’ll just take it (acheron) they showed multiple ways of obtaining them and those are, imo, reasonably accessible to players: claim to login, which i hope becomes a new tradition like golden companion spirits; pulling events (better than spending); and direct purchases from the shop for starlight that will come in the future tbh, i was initially confused by their form - like, why not just overhaul these outdated kits and traces? in the end, i think that was actually the correct long-term decision ask yourself: if these eidolons reworked the kits, what would be the point of novaflares? now, we have a clear separation: novaflares are STILL the big buffs; ex-eidolons are, well, just special dupes and they can give the character meta relevancy but that’s pretty much it so in my opinion, this suggests we will still be getting novaflares on pretty much the same cadence as usual - and that any of the 3 characters with ex-eidolons now will be eligible for a future nova, too… or that every character they nova'd in the past will possibly be re-buffed with their own future ex-eidolon it’s an ok system, not perfect, but not terrible either, with a pretty clear separation of functions that doesn’t invalidate what came before regarding specific buffs… tho i agree most player should just take acheron's no questions asked, i actually weirdly think her buff has some potential to age the worst (hear me out) if _i_ were to design this batch of buffs, i would CLEARLY be balancing jy's eidolon around sunday's incoming novaflare - and if we see that nova in 5.x, it will be positioned around 5.x power levels, just like buffed sparkle became the best harmony in 4.x so if (big if) sundog becomes sungod and acheron is stuck with mblade who will not get any stronger than he already is… you see where i'm going with that? dhil, on the other hand, is clearly just homeless but i don't believe he will stay that way as most readers probably noticed, nothing comes free in gacha games and most of these buffs are actually designed to upsell other, newer units - like mblade (or his og version who was designed to upsell hyacine, tribbie, and - charitably - castorice) so, again, if i were to design this batch, i'd use dhil's buff to upsell another archetype and the only two bets that make sense to me are the zzz collab or a future 5.x team - my current expectation is that either the limited collab unit or the free unit's e1 (or both, lmao) may feature some good synergies with our granpa to entice his mains to pull on these banners but like i said, don’t mind my ramblings, just take acheron - this buff puts her somewhere in t0

from time to time, i keep seeing that people want the tb to obtain paths like hunt, abundance, erudition. but why would hsr even make erudition mc given that the erudition-focused arc (amphoreus… where nous almost "died") is behind us? what narrative purpose would it serve?
