I’ve seen a lot of stuff on the social media sites about the downfall of personalities owing to substance abuse. Yesterday I read something about Brian Connolly, & I’ve been thinking about it. I’d say that he was quite misunderstood, & was taken advantage of. The attack on him in Staines left with permanent damage to his ability to be able to sing in a high register, & his band members kind of deserted him & found another singer to replace him. He went on to form the band Brian Connelly’s Sweet recruiting the Farmer twin brothers that were formerly, & founders of the band Blackfoot Sue, they had a number 4 in the charts UK single. The backing vocals supplied by these guys were superb. By this time Brian was in a sorry state, & was continually shaking, but he was still a big draw, particularly in Germany, so as the promoter suspected that the punters that would come to see him on an “oldie” night would leave after he had been onstage, he was placed last on the bill. I felt very sorry for him, especially as on one occasion he didn’t get onstage until about 2am despite having an early flight back to the UK that morning. He told me that he thought the only reason other folks didn’t down as much alcohol as himself was because they couldn’t afford it. He said that at one time he used to bury bottles of spirits in his garden hoping that he could keep his problem from his family.
The original Sweet made some great records & without a doubt influenced the glam rock scene on both sides of the Atlantic. R.I.P. Brian ☮️☮️✌️✌️🎶🎶😕

A wee bit of perspective... Westminster keeps its nukes in Faslane because Scots are expendable...it seems.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The UK's nuclear deterrent submarines have been based at Faslane since the 1960s due to the location's geographic advantages including deep water and rapid stealthy access to the North Atlantic. ukdefencejournal.org.uk/nuclear-submar… navylookout.com/why-relocating…

An acoustic performance of "A Pair Of Brown Eyes" by Christy Moore and Shane MacGowan.
Two of our finest songwriters. 🇮🇪
When you really take the time to listen, you slowly begin to realize those lyrics are pure magic.
What a rendition that is. The best anthem in football for me. No contest.
GOOSEBUMPS! 🤯

Is this the best song in football?
Or is it Morton's Tony Watt chicken clucking song?
