This is a hard post for me. I never like to ask for help for myself. But I'm going to ask for prayers. I have been diagnosed with cancer. Any prayers would be appreciated.

Obviously, I'm not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ's servant.

Johnstown (PA) Patrolman Shawn D. Rager's life embodied an inscription on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial: "It is not how these officers died that made them heroes, it is how they lived." And his sudden passing on October 13, 2016, reminds us how physically and emotionally demanding the law enforcement profession can be. Hear his "Heroes Live Forever" podcast tribute in the comment below--and prepare to be inspired!

🚨HERO'S FINAL JOURNEY: Thousands of heartbroken Texans lined overpasses and highways in solemn silence to honor 31-year-old Van Zandt County Deputy Adam Al-Sherifi, who was killed in an ambush while serving felony warrants near Canton!
The horrifying violence unfolded when officers arrived at a residence to serve felony warrants. A barricaded gunman unleashed a barrage of more than 800 rounds from a semi-automatic rifle toward law enforcement, fatally wounding Deputy Al-Sherifi and injuring a Canton police officer.
Despite the chaos and terrifying volume of gunfire, fellow deputies stood their ground under fire to drag wounded officers to safety before the suspect was eventually found dead inside the home.
Behind the badge, Deputy Al-Sherifi was a devoted husband to his wife, Kyleigh, and a loving father who had just welcomed a newborn into the world—leaving behind three young children who will grow up knowing their father died a hero.
His procession from the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office to Canton brought entire communities to a standstill, with firefighters, fellow officers, and citizens waving American flags from every highway overpass.
A devastating loss that serves as a grim reminder of the sacrifice law enforcement officers make every single day. May his family find strength in this unimaginable trial. Rest in peace, Deputy Al-Sherifi. 🇺🇸💙
