Wonder how @StockGoel arrived to draw equivalence b/w PhD & CA degrees. Latter at best is a PG degree. Ignorance can be misleading. Unless one is a PhD, he/she won't know about the universally recognized highest awarded academic degree - a terminal degree.

If India continues with freebies in such inflationary set up, then in no time, we shall go from top five to fragile five from where we started in 2014. Already many states have become debt ridden like Sri Lanka . Now distributing free cash un this inflationary set up is suicide.
Government needs smarter professionals who can work the maths. For me good quality education and healthcare is far better than DBT.
The biggest reform can be let go of capital gains tax and instead tax high inheritance. A person earning 5 lacs in equity markets is taxed at 12.5%, which is his own risk and research, But someone inheriting 500 crores with no hard work goes tax free.
