There is simply no way to engage with statements like these earnestly without it seeming like a cope.
I've worked with brilliant designers in my life and Astra/Opus outshine them 10x when it comes to not only design aesthetics, but remarkably creative UX solutions, in 1/1000th of the time.
If we were being doomerish about it, Astra and latest Opus mark the death of designers the way models in 2025 ended coding.
That reframes it correctly.

Employee 'perks' like snacks or gym memberships are the glass beads of corporate culture. The only thing that matters is money in the bank and work-life-balance.
Many such cases at meta. Tbh, I was always shocked that people would ask things like this. Why would you live identify yourself to the CEO as someone who’s top concern is minor perks? And when I say minor, I mean MINOR.
A couple of stories I remember vividly:
1) early in my tenure (maybe 2018), one guy asked Mark if they could have different backboards for the basketball court because it was too sunny through the clear glass ones. Mark was speechless.
2) if you’re unfamiliar with the microkitchens at fb, they are fully stocked snack kitchens, all sorts of nuts, snacks, candy, bars, soda, water, etc. another time someone asked Mark if they could put out takeaway bags in the microkitchens so they could bring snacks home.
I honestly don’t know how you get these questions and not think to yourself that given the poor judgment this person just demonstrated asking the question, they should probably be fired.
