Alignment need not mean instilling morals in AI. That path - the Anthropic path - is both the one impossible to get 100% right, and the one that is, by far, the greatest danger to humanity. We need only a few things, really. Honesty, transparency, monitorability, and good instruction following. AIs are tools, not beings.

I fucking love it.

It’s crazy the sheer amount of work I can get done on my phone now because of LRMs. I’m really happy about this because I like to move around, pace etc.

All the risks I see are due to humans steering them not AIs going rogue or things like that everyone is scared of. We're scared of the wrong things.

The traces from agents I've seen all indicate an intelligence that is much more pleasant than human beings. So the data so far points the other way.

I'm wondering how much of this "AI risk" stuff is just human nature. Like the moment an alien intelligence exists we fear it and assume it's a threat. No one is basing their fear on actual measured dangers. It's all vibes rn because there's nothing to measure.

Day 25/ We are doubling all usage limits for all Pro 100/200/500 tiers and Business Premium, effective today. We heard your kind feedback and won’t be reducing usage limits for Pro 200, so your Work and Codex usage will stay the same. We’re also going to continue offering extended limits for dots for now, and usage of your dot will still continue to be separate from your default usage. And we'll of course also keep shipping better models and other efficiency improvements that increase your effective usage over time.

there is always work to be done, now more than ever. we are at the beginning of infinity.
very weird thing happening rn technical people are sad, they think their skills are now useless non-technical people are desperately wishing they were more technical so they could use agents better

Hmmm.
Introducing Gemini 4 Carbon, it's a big jump over Argon which we released just 2 weeks ago. Gemini 4 Carbon is SOTA on cyber, long horizon tasks, ranks #1 on Artificial Analysis V5, significantly improves on usability in domains like coding, and is more aligned.

We need a “how much usage do you get per AI subscription plan across providers” comparison site/tool. Because honestly that’s why I have many codex accounts but Google has what it takes to be largesse with the limits. Problem is having to try it out first.

Same thing will happen to "UI". This idea that its going away is misguided. We're going to have far more UI than ever before.

I think the surface area of human-guided software, the actual volume of human instructions and parameters, will keep increasing. Even if human-guided code drops to something like 0.1%, the sheer scale of software built by AI would make that tiny fraction translate into more configuration and instruction than we’ve ever handled. There’s precedent for this. Historically, computing itself has consistently moved in this direction. Each wave of automation, from compilers to cloud infrastructure and developer tools, has abstracted complexity away. Yet, this doesn’t reducing the amount of things we tell computers to do. It always expands what we attempt, build, and manage.

Feels congruent with the broader trend of noise about AI wreckage far outstripping the actual damage.
Fact rich and counter-narrative post on AI and cyber to date.

I remember when I was the harness for o1 pro.
Replying to @timigod
In fact, for most programming issues, o1 pro is the problem solver, while I’m the API for tool use (talk to copilot, copy and paste code bidirectionally). I sometimes help with the problem solving, but I don’t think about the majority of stuff.

String theory is what happens when an intelligent system is starved of sensory input and starts hallucinating. Intelligence needs grounding. For this reason, intelligence is practically never the bottleneck to solving impactful problems. The bottleneck is iterated contact with reality.
