The misconception that Israel only entered Syria after Assad fell is false.
Israel had already built roads inside Quneitra, carried out incursions, constructed trenches and conducted a ground raid in Syria before December 2024.

Hafez al-Assad claimed to defend Palestine but did Israel’s dirty work
In June 1976, Syrian troops entered Lebanon and fought Palestinian groups
Syria’s intervention aligned it with Maronite forces that were already receiving Israeli arms and military support
Today I attended SYNC at Damascus Opera House.
Watching Nick Maddocks speak, I thought about how a Western foreigner came to Syria after liberation and fell in love with it.
It shows just how much Syria is back on the map for the world to see.
I recommend you come visit

Former Assad regime general Mard Mohammad, known as the “Guardian of the Capital,” has been arrested.
He commanded military operations in Jobar, Qaboun and other areas around Damascus where Assad’s forces carried out brutal assaults against civilians.

A Druze (Shia offshoot) man waves a “Ya Ali” flag with an Israeli flag in the background. Assadists never show you this, because the Druze sheikh in the poster next to Netanyahu was an Assad loyalist
Hafez al Assad lost both wars against Israel, 1967 and 1973.
Israel counterattacked in 1973 and advanced to within roughly 40 km of Damascus, Saddam Hussein sent an armored division and air support to Syria
Because of this, Israeli advance was halted, and the front stabilised
We’re rebuilding Syria from the ground up
We have an army that shields its people, not one that makes them tremble,

Exactly what FSA commanders in northern Syria told me for years.
And the US-backed YPG/SDF weren’t fighting Assad (nor Hezbollah, Iran). They were handed weapons, vehicles, and zones by the Assad regime to begin with to crush the revolution among Syrian Kurds.
"The IDF says it is willing to support Druze militiamen in Hader who are "fighting Assad's Syrian army."
>Statement after an attack by the militants which led to deaths of Druze militants who were fighting for Assad (Pic 1).
>Direct quote from Times of Israel article: "A suicide bomber from Al-Nusra Front detonated a car bomb in the midst of the homes of citizens on the outskirts of Hader, killing nine people and injuring at least 23,” the agency said.
>During the 1967 war, around 95% of the Golan Heights population, around 130,000 people, were ethnically cleansed, leaving only six inhabited villages with about 6,396 people. Most of those who remained were Syrian Druze. So, although the Druze in the Golan are on the fence and not all of them supported Assad (Pic 2), they are permanent residents of the Golan Heights and have led no military actions against the Zionist occupation forces. You would agree that they are looking out for their own interests. So why is it that you go after the militants in the South who accepted backing from the Zionists out of necessity, which I posted about in the same thread? (Pic 3).
"The Druze of the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights notably resisted obtaining Israeli citizenships and passports well into the 2010s, choosing to keep ties with Syria. Because of the victory of sectarian forces in Syria in 2024, and the massacres of 2025, this will now pass into history books as Druze no longer want to associate with a regime whose militiamen want them dead for being the wrong sect."
>Jolani compromised to unite the ranks of the groups in Idlib.
>Jolani compromised to please the secularists; Shias, Alawites (to a certain degree), Christians, and Kurds would not go after Druzes because it would go against his interests.
>Jolani was even issuing statements still keeping Hijri relevant in the middle of the Suwayda events.
>Jolani's forces took over Jaramana despite the threats of Israel, and there weren't any massacres despite the hostility waged (a veteran revolutionary was killed and body dumped).
I monitored and followed the events, and as we know, there were tensions between the Bedouins and Druzes before. Pro-Israel Hijri, who aligned himself with Israel, openly ambushed and executed government forces that were to prevent the clashes. Going to link the thread below.
UN reported the Suwayda events led to over 1,700 deaths, 1,100 being Druzes. Meanwhile, in Iran, when we saw similar events going down (anti-regime protesters that were also backed by Israel), the Iranian regime admitted that they killed 3,000 people. The count is probably higher.
Regarding the “Israel-backed groups in Southern Syria,” I’m glad you went through my thread and introduced you to your own rabbit hole in the year of 2025-2026, I'm assuming. Let me help you out further.
>Fursan al-Jolan was one of the biggest groups in Southern Syria at the time. It received not only arms but also money from Israel. However, it only had around 400 members. They received $5,000 per month. Another 800 members across a dozen villages in Southern Syria also received backing.
>Keep in mind that Israel’s objective was to keep its border protected from Iranians and their backed militias. It also wanted protection from ISIS and Nusra. It is also well documented that Israel treated Assadist soldiers. The presence of Nusra in the area was not significant at all. (Pic 4)
>Just like the other U.S.-backed formations, these militants were not supplied with the proper equipment for the breakthrough to establish authority or challenge Assad's regime for the long term. The support was mainly for the protection of their own interests (protecting their borders). We've seen this was the leader of Fursan Al Golan who left Syria for Israel after the "reconciliation" system by Russia in 2018 in Southern Syria. He rejected Israeli citizenship, moved to Venezuela, and was assassinated there.
"Other Israel-backed rebel groups in the South include:"
>He goes on to list a bunch of groups in order to push an agenda for his own followers, not knowing that it goes against him. Syria's conflict is known for having dozens of groups, and groups were created from neighborhoods of militants merging with other groups. Just to give you an idea of how ridiculous his list is... He includes ISIS affiliate Khalid ibn al-Walid Army, Nusra, and Syrian Revolutionaries Front in the same list of being Israel-backed.
>As we know, ISIS clashed with Nusra in Southern Syria; SRF fought against Nusra and ISIS. What makes him say ISIS was backed in Southern Syria? Just because of a claim by a Zionist official claiming ISIS affiliate in Southern Syria apologized to them after attacking them. IDF killed the four ISIS militants in the conflict; it's stated in the same article that Assadists love to bring up.
Militants' count in Southern Syria were isolated from the main forces in other regions in Syria. As stated above, only 1,200 militants received backing. The militants' count was low compared to the militants in other liberated areas, which they also call these militants Israel-backed. A small list of the groups in liberated areas, their count is 10 times the amount of militants in the South:
Hayat Tahrir Al Sham
Ahrar Al-Sham
Jaysh Al Izza
Jaysh Al Nasr
Ansar Al Tawhid
Faylaq Al Sham
Coastal Brigade
Jaysh Al Ahrar
Suqour Al Sham
Jaysh Al Thani
Jaysh Al-Nukhba
Ansar Al Islam
Turkestan Islamic Party
Nur Al-Din Al Zenki Movement
The Sham Front
The Joint Force
Free Idlib Army
etc.
"who surrendered and became "reconciled rebels" for a few years when the rebellion in the South collapsed - all joined Jolani in November-December 2024."
"The Southern Operations Room (SOR), led by Ahmad al-Awda, was comprised entirely of anti-Assad Druze groups (who would later evolve into Hijri's forces today) and former "reconciled rebels," many of which were backed by Israel. And it is these forces who reached Damascus first, before HTS even arrived from the North."
"Remnants of Fursan al-Jolan, Omar Bin Al-Khattab Brigade, and others, who were in the SOR, played a role in "facilitating the passage of Israeli patrols towards the heights of Mount Hermon."
>This is like saying Salahuddin Al Ayyubi had crusaders hating Ismailis in his ranks in the campaign to fight for Jerusalem.
>Ahmad Al Awda is a warlord that allied with Nusra back (and also had beef with them) in the day and fought against the Assad regime. Not only did he face Issam Zahreddine (Druze commander Assadist), which by the way, there was a shrine of him in Suwayda, but also faced Jaysh al-Muwahhidin and Kata'ib Humat al-Diyar (two Druze groups who were loyal to Assad then sided with Hikmat in 2025).
>Ahmad Al Awda and Jolani coordinated their attacks? Can't tell as HTS did work with his division after the reconciliations. However, they weren't on the same page as we saw what followed through; a soldier being killed by his men and he decided to lay down his arms.
Assad's Prime Minister's testimony in a documentary uploaded in Al Jazeera also confirms this when he waited for Jolani to reach Damascus and hand him power instead of Ahmed Al Awda.
This guy is one of the more clever Jolanists on this website. As such I will respond to him thoroughly. Bookmark this tweet as you will now read rare and obscure information most people have never reported on regarding Syria.
It's funny this guy brings up the events from Hader on Nov 2017 in his first two screenshots.
A week after issuing that empty threat to Nusra, IDF shelled the SAA after engineers were building a fortification. Within the same ynet article, the IDF says it is willing to support Druze militiamen in Hader who are "fighting Assad's Syrian army."
So much for Israel-backed "Druze Assadists" lmfao.
In his third and fourth screenshots, he attempts to spin pro-Assad rallies by Druze of Majd al-Shams as also "pro-Israel" which is blatantly false. These rallies were held on Syrian Independence Day, and explicitly were protesting AGAINST the Israeli annexation of the Golan, demanding the Golan's repatriation with Syria, and supporting Assad against the internationally-backed rebels.
The Druze of the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights notably resisted obtaining Israeli citizenships and passports well into the 2010s, choosing to keep ties with Syria. Because of the victory of sectarian forces in Syria in 2024, and the massacres of 2025, this will now pass into history books as Druze no longer want to associate with a regime whose militiamen that wants them dead for being the wrong sect.
It is also ironic this guy denies Israel backing rebel groups, including those close with, and defacto overlapping with, Al Nusra. Because he himself talked about Israel-backed rebel groups in Syria before.
I had saved a tweet from him on Iyad Moro, and groups like Fursan al Jolan, made ironically a month before Jolani's 2024 offensive started. His commentary on these figures actually led me into a rabbit hole into investigating Israel's role in the Southern front of the civil war, and the many groups in the South.
He calls Moro & other groups "regime assets" and proof that "the regime is backed by Israel" when all these Israeli-backed guys - who surrendered and became "reconciled rebels" for a few years when the rebellion in the South collapsed - all joined Jolani in November-December 2024.
Moro himself was eliminated by Syrian intelligence in 2022 after several years of monitoring, due to his continued close contact with Israel
The Southern Operations Room (SOR), led by Ahmad al-Awda, was comprised entirely of anti-Assad Druze groups (who would later evolve into Hijri's forces today) and former "reconciled rebels" many of which were backed by Israel. And it is these forces who reached Damascus first, before HTS even arrived from the North.
Remnants of Fursan al Jolan, Omar Bin Al-Khattab Brigade, and others, who were in the SOR, played a role in "facilitating the passage of Israeli patrols towards the heights of Mount Hermon."
The SOR and Ahmad al-Awda are topics I have written extensively about in previous tweets.
Other Israel-backed rebel groups in the South include:

Jaysh al-Ababil

Al-Ezz bin Abdul Salam
Al-Haramein Battalion

Alwiya al-Furqan

Jabhat Ansar al-Islam
