Did I love code, or did I love the clarity of thought that writing it provided? The immediate feedback?

all the work that goes into editions is a huge labor of love, and the team goes crazy on the details and playful delights that push the boundaries of web experiences e.g., scroll through the site on expo mode🤯 (click ~)

One problem with reading about Stalin is that things go from silly (he punched up lyrics in a comedy movie) to horrifying (famine) in the same breath over and over again. He liked dirty poems aaaaaand the great terror is upon us. Food fights with Kruschev aaaand gulags.

Underrated aspect of learning with LLMs: there is no socially acceptable way I could ask a tutor for this many examples of the same thing. ... Also never had a tutor before.

Similar feeling over here about SE. Thinking of what I could have dared during the last decade with these tools. All the hours spent fixing broken dev environments alone... I was preparing for interviews with GPT 3.5 and felt deeply that I was able to work at an entirely new, higher level.
There was a moment maybe two years ago when I realized that ChatGPT could have few-shot my phd dissertation (at least huge chunks of it). I did mourn for a few days, I worked my ass off for that thing. Over time though I became sad for a different reason, that if I had ChatGPT during my PhD I could have tackle a far bigger, more important, more technically difficult dissertation question. Sometimes I think about the dissertation I could have written if I had Codex, something that an AI couldn't few-shot and I couldn't pull off without AI assistance.

I don't really watch horror movies. Once a year I read a horror novel, usually during October. The Shining was this year's. I found it difficult bc one of the main characters is a child, but it was fantastic. Back to my regular fare and I miss my hair standing on end.

Fun prompt for wherever you have memory on: Using what you know about me, what subcultures might I not know about but might be interested in participating in?

Which is the result of "Tecumseh" being shortened by his family. Puts a very different spin on a guy who looks absolutely haunted in the few photos I've seen of him.

Laziness, Impatience, Hubris. When I first read that these were virtues in a programmer I thought it was a joke. Now more than ever that it is important to have elements of all three. I have hubris, and some impatience, but my solutions would be even better with some laziness.

I'm surprised we're not seeing more DSL's for agents to build apps with. Just because agents can write apps the way we did before they existed doesn't mean they should. It's hard to evaluate an agents implementation of a new feature, it may be easier to eval their dsl use.

I need a version of herdr that has been completely hobbled, unable to start just-one-more thing. My herd needs to be Amdahl’s Law aware. I'm starting to measure the staleness of spaces by the model the agents are running.

See, every PR still needs a certain amount of thinky-juice™️ before it gets merged. Mostly people pay during planning or pay during review. If you choose not spend enough of it you'll pay in a few months.
