So Alireza, with hours left to live, tried to comfort the man who raised him. "What can I do, Baba. They want to take my whole life from me." Then he asked for one last message: "Say hello to my uncle. Tell him I'm looking after Ramin over there." Ramin was his cousin. The son of that same uncle. He was shot dead in the streets of Isfahan during the protests. Now the regime has hanged the other one. At dawn. In secret. This is what the Islamic Republic calls justice: 18 days of torture. Electric shocks. A forced confession. A trial lasting minutes. An appeal thrown out in less than 48 hours. A gallows built beside a Revolutionary Guard executioner. They think the rope will end the uprising. The rope is only creating more anger towards society.
