We represent workers in a variety of trade-exposed industries, including tires, steel, aluminum, & paper. That’s why we work with policymakers like the Unites States Trade Representative to push for fair trade that accounts for workers and their communities. So what is the USTR?

The domestic tire industry is drowning in a flood of imports. Workers and their communities are paying the price. Since 2024 alone, 9 domestic tire plants have either closed or announced their closures, costing roughly 7,500 jobs – including those of more than 6,000 USW members.

Enemies of Labor is back! Enemy number 9? Tom Girdler – the head of Republic Steel, and one of the most aggressive opponents of steelworker organizing in the 1930s. On May 30, 1937, his anti-union campaign reached a head in what is known as the Memorial Day Massacre.
