Here in Bed-Stuy, there are almost 3x as many people who bike per capita as the citywide average. Why aren’t there any protected bike lanes yet, @NYCMayor @NYCMayorsOffice?
The @Gothamist just reported that ‘New Yorkers are now far more likely to be killed in a car crash than a shooting’. Protected bike lanes are an important tool in preventing those crashes. @NYCMayor let’s get it done!

Atlantic Avenue is a dangerous, 117 feet-wide corridor.
Cars get more than 80% of this space. Bike and bus riders get 0%. Pedestrians are forced to share sidewalks as narrow as 5 feet.

Over the last decade, 40 traffic deaths have occurred on Atlantic Avenue — four times as many as Queens Boulevard, formerly known as “the Boulevard of Death.”
