Very fun - I had a similar idea, but stopped at lightscribe discs (for some reason) this project using stock writable CDR media is a huge huge advantage over the pricier LS discs! nitter.cf/tomfleet/status/208295…

They say imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. (I mean that's not what legal are saying but lol, fair play Behringer. Fair play)

Interesting timing, because, see, this is maybe the only really viable option for a universal "tamper detection" system. jaseg.de/blog/paper-sampling…
1/16 You can see inside a circuit board without cutting it open. Send a fast step into a USB port and listen for the echoes. Every bump is a spot where the layout changes, and its delay says where. That's TDR, radar for PCBs. I simulated it on a real Raspberry Pi board 🧵

This is a fun little board. NRF52 MCU, a RGB LED, white led with a colour sensor, and what I'm pretty sure is a BMA253 accelerometer. Had DeepSeek whip up a web serial interface over BLE, to poke about, and have most of the features working.

It's from a product made by @Sphero, called Specdrums. The idea is you tap the device on a coloured pad, and the sensor gives a nearest match reading within a preset pallete. Long discontinued, I got DeepSeek to decompile the old apps libraries, and got it talking.

With batteries long swollen, and all product support long gone, seemed like a fun use of an evening to start picking the black box apart, just because it was easier than beeping out the schematic!

Need some help from the hive mind, please gang? Does anyone recognize this connector system? 2mm pitch, with these red clips, that can be placed as a unique keying system (aka TPA - "terminal positioning assurance") . Any suggestions on a MFG / something compatible would be greatly appreciated!

Could we please not use the EAS for stuff that would be better delivered as a bullet point on a BBC evening news? Pretty stupid to risk getting anyone at all desensitized to the sound of "oh shit here come the nukes!"

that looks more like a dry roast to me, maybe a broil.
I think I literally fried my CPU

Another reason why the British plug reigns supreme - you can't do stuff like this with it. (And thus, your average person now require one less loicesnse)
Fun factoid #38373: this is actually what the holes in the US plug prongs are for! -10 points for fumbling the heatshrink though.

Missed a trick by not calling this egregious. Would have looked nice in type next to Juicero on the shelf.

in my defence, I naively assumed this would be a lot easier to put into pictures than it was. also, totally unrelated, if you want to crash a background remover, throw a Klein bottle, or some other non-orientable surface at it.

Please keep the "vision" models away from pharmaceutical application's. Pill counting is a long, long done thing. It does not need, nor should consider the implementation of anything not absolutely deterministic. youtu.be/95PBMcPgkvE?t=78
GPT 5.6 Sol is the best "vision" model OpenAI ever released massive gains in object detection and counting. still very strong in OCR ↓ deep GPT 5.6 dive
