Volpe should be a doubles hitter that works the count, steals bases, and clearly should be a 2nd baseman. Instead we force every square, triangular, & hexagonal peg into the same round hole that is the Excel model’s perfect baseball player. The org would take clones of the 90s core and make Rivera throw a slider and tell Jeter he needs to hit for more power. They cannot tell their ass from their elbows. Too many data people and not enough baseball men. It’s a joke, and the arrogance of leadership means nothing will change.
