Long Covid. He won’t admit it because he knows he’ll be dragged given his history.
🗣️Novak Djokovic reveals he has a health issue which he has a diagnosis for and is doing his best to solve: "I don’t want to go into details because then it will seem like I’m complaining or looking for excuses. The truth is that this year has been a huge struggle for me, with some specific issues I’ve had. I’ve tried to find different ways to at least be in decent physical and health conditions to be on the court and compete against the player in front of me. If the player beats me, if he’s better, then that’s fine. But the majority of my matches and tournaments I have played this year have been a real struggle for me physically, none of that has to do with stamina. People mix it up; it’s not stamina, it’s something more related to health. I don’t want to reveal what it is, but I am trying to get to the bottom of the problem with my team.”

/FR

In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.

A new study published in Nature Communications found that the skeletal muscle changes seen in Long COVID and pre-pandemic ME/CFS differ from those caused by prolonged physical inactivity. Researchers compared 25 people with Long COVID, 26 people with pre-pandemic ME/CFS, 30 healthy controls who had fully recovered from SARS-CoV-2, and 24 healthy participants who underwent 60 days of strict bed rest. While prolonged bed rest caused expected signs of deconditioning, including muscle atrophy, people with Long COVID and ME/CFS showed a different pattern. Researchers found changes in muscle fiber composition, capillarization, oxygen delivery and utilization, and mitochondrial function that were not reproduced by bed rest alone. In ME/CFS, participants had reduced capillary-to-fiber ratios and changes involving type I muscle fibers. Long COVID and ME/CFS participants also showed evidence of altered oxidative phosphorylation and exercise responses suggestive of impaired oxygen extraction or reduced stroke volume. The findings suggest that reduced exercise capacity in Long COVID and ME/CFS cannot be explained by inactivity or deconditioning alone. Instead, underlying mitochondrial, vascular, and skeletal muscle abnormalities may contribute to exercise intolerance and post-exertional malaise. Importantly, the findings also support the need for rehabilitation approaches that recognize the underlying disease physiology rather than treating patients as simply deconditioned. BY FAR the left’s biggest failure on COVID was failing to advocate for PUBLIC solutions. Imagine what a national coalition of socialists, unions, & disability advocates could’ve accomplished on indoor air quality standards, workers comp, sick leave, health care, research, etc
