Mansour Abbas is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood who belongs, like Hamas, to the Wasatiyya stream of Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi. One of the tools that al-Qaradawi provided to Muslims in their dialogue with the West is a discourse in a soft language, adapted to the value system of the other. This tool allows Mansour Abbas to tell the Israeli public what it wants to hear, it is a tool he can flex in order to reach his ultimate strategic goal, which will never change. He revealed this goal in a 2015 speech before the High Follow-Up Committee and the Arab political spectrum in Israel, which is the establishment of a single state ruled by a caliphate. In that same speech, Abbas clarifies that according to the Southern Branch's approach, the State of Israel has no right to exist under Sharia law. Instead, it is viewed as an occupation and an alien implant that, by its very existence, declares war on them. Therefore, at the beginning of their journey as the "Jihad Family," they engaged in combat jihad directly according to the Quranic commandment. He then admits that Abdullah Nimar Darwish's shift toward politics was the fruit of coordination with Hamas leadership in prison, and boasts that it was not the product of a normalization process with the Israeli prison authorities. He states that Hamas is closer to the Southern Branch than to the Northern Branch, in the sense that they also entered the Palestinian Legislative Council in the Palestinian Authority and maintain contacts and agreements with Israel. He outlines his ambition, vision, and strategy to establish a single state as his Islamic solution, clarifying that the two-state solution is a tactic, a step along the way. He also notes that he wants this state to be run as a "democratic caliphate." Furthermore, he mentions that the PLO followed Hadash's two-state solution while Hamas followed the Southern Branch's project. In passing, he also boasts that the Jihad Family inspired the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades (the military wing of Hamas). He compares Israel to the Crusaders as a transient entity, noting it might take another 200 years for this to happen, which is why they do not give up on entering parliament on the way to that goal. In additional segments, Abbas clarifies that as Arabs living in Israel, they cannot perform combat jihad, and therefore engage in civil jihad (stated in 2020) - a term coined by Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi. In another segment, he stated that the citizenship he speaks of is not citizenship in the Zionist sense, but rather one through which he fights against Zionism, adding that citizenship in the Zionist sense might not deserve to be called citizenship at all. Further segments were revealed in which Mansour Abbas speaks of the State of Israel as an unnatural state, refers to the Balfour Declaration as "a promise from one who does not own to those who do not deserve," claims that Jews do not deserve sovereignty in Palestine, and in a sermon he delivered at a mosque, shouted that the Nation-State Law is a Nazi law. Has all of this suddenly changed? This is a religious starting point, as Abbas himself explains. In other clips, Mansour Abbas glorifies, prays for, and wishes for the victory of various terrorists - rioters on the Temple Mount, hunger-striking murderers led by Barghouthi, the Mavi Marmara terrorists, and others, and expresses hope to release as many terrorists as possible in a Hamas-led deal. To truly understand Mansour Abbas, one must study the value system he comes from, which allows him to operate this way.
