I wish Jalen Green was treated more like Derrick Rose in terms of roster construction, an entire roster of elite, selfless defensive personnel who didn't care about scoring, giving him a 100% usage rate to dictate the offense on raw impulse.
Jalen Green is playing in an era and on a Suns team next to Devin Booker where he is just one piece of a multi starred puzzle. He doesn't have a 4 man shield of purely defensive monsters allowing him to play 48 minutes of unfiltered playground ball.
He doesn't need a system literally similar to 2011 D Rose because that's outdated but all he needs is a defensive safety net at center, a vertical rim protector. Players who catch, shoot, or immediately redrive without stopping the ball. A co-star (like Booker) who forces defenses to make a fatal choice: double Booker and let Jalen rip through the paint, or single cover Jalen and watch him blow by his defender at 100 mph.
Jalen Green doesn't need to carry an entire offense on his back alone. He just needs the Suns to clean up the floor geometry so he can unleash that raw, downhill impulse without running into a crowded paint.
