"Education, like democracy, has long been a work in progress. But that progress has come by remaining fixed on our fundamental ideas, not questioning them because of our own failures to reach them—and certainly not replacing them with something else." time.com/5891261/early-ameri…

It's the final countdown! Do you have a plan to vote?
Remember: polls are open 7A-8P on Tuesday, Nov. 3! Still have your mail-in ballot? DON'T put it in the mail - return it to one of the 10 secure drop boxes across Lehigh County.

The future of #ArtificialIntelligence is not pre-determined. As a technology developed by human beings, its future depends on the choices we make. We therefore have the responsibility to guide, change and, when necessary, reject its applications. A reliable system that serves the human person is of greater value than one that is exceptionally powerful but whose consequences cannot be adequately foreseen or controlled.

Dyslexia isn’t seeing letters backwards. It isn’t about intelligence. And kids don’t just outgrow it.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the private school voucher program has been one of the biggest invitations to waste, fraud, and abuse in Iowa history.
We have a $1.3 billion budget deficit, and Iowans deserve accountability for how their tax dollars are spent. #IAGov #GovDebate

Opinion by former BASD superintendent: Why Gov. Shapiro must say no to federal vouchers
Instead of targeting lower-income families who genuinely and increasingly need financial support, the program turns into a tax break for affluent households.

“With targeted early intervention in Grade 1, we can remove a dyslexic child’s designation of dyslexia.”🎤
Shouldn’t this be EVERY school districts goal?? Instead of waiting until they’re in grade 3 for an assessment, a year later for a Tier 3 intervention program like Empower, which is not enough to close the gaps that have been allowed to widen over 4,5,6 years and then thrown back into the classroom without the supports that allowed them to be successful.
Very inspiring presentation from @CunninghamPsych at the @researchEDCan today! A good reminder of what so many teachers already know- waiting doesn’t work!!!!

Did you know....Mount St. Joseph University-Reading Science Program is developing a FREE, OPEN-SOURCE comprehensive curriculum, Reading Opens Worlds (ROW)!
I am SO honored to be on the Advisory Panel for ROW!
Want a sneak peek of ROW?
Read on and then do-not-miss watching an incredible vocabulary lesson from ROW expertly taught by Dr. Tambra Isenberg!
In this video, on Reading Universe, watch Mount St. Joseph University-Reading Science Program's own Dr. Tambra Isenberg expertly model one of the vocabulary lessons from ROW!
How to Introduce a New Vocabulary Word: Collaborate
Introducing a new vocabulary word works best when the routine is predictable. When students know what to expect, they can focus on the new word rather than guessing what's coming next. In this lesson, watch as Dr. Tambra Isenberg teaches a brand-new word — collaborate — to kindergartners at Holy Family School in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Curious where this lesson plan came from? It's part of Reading Opens Worlds (ROW), a free, open-source curriculum being developed by Mount Saint Joseph University .

A growing number of US adults have low literacy skills--showing that K-12 education needs to focus on improving reading and writing instruction.
The Education Law Center’s Jessica Levin explains: “Public schools do not, cannot, and should not charge for the vast majority of the programs and services they provide and therefore will receive very little if any of the voucher funding, while they also lose significant resources.” janresseger.wordpress.com/20…
