People are dying in a war no one is fighting. The weapon is CO₂. Today’s emissions lock in about 1 future death every 2 seconds (estimate) — World War II’s toll in under 5 years. But it can still change. 1/ 🧵
People are dying in a war no one is fighting. No gunfire, no bombs — just CO₂. The deaths today’s global emissions lock in for the future: ・about 1 every 2 seconds ・about 17 million a year (estimate) ・matching World War II’s toll in under 5 years But it can still change. Cut emissions 7% a year (roughly a 2 °C path) and about 220 million lives are saved by 2050. I built a site to see it, try it, and bring it down to your own day. 🔗 tamorist.github.io/slow-war/ ● A live counter, compared with history’s wars ● A simulator you can change yourself ● Your day, multiplied by everyone on Earth ● Beyond carbon: food, forests, water and the Amazon ● Every number sourced Not to blame anyone — to see what can change. 📝 Full story: ttmori.substack.com/p/the-wa…

As someone who worked in the sector for a stint - academia is dead and buried. Our universities are run like corporations now, they're no different to work at than your run-of-the-mill Fortune 500. We need a revolution in academia.

Academia has a lot of reckoning to do. A LOT. Need to build up bottom-up power, unions etc to counter the top-down neoliberal managers, all too inclined to bootlick fascists.
Remember when all the Big Tech, Wall Street, Big Law, media, and universities bent the knee to Trump? That was less than two years ago.

👇 youtube.com/watch?v=2WdGvF9z…

. The global AI adoption gap might surprise you This chart from BCG's AI At Work 2025 survey shows the share of the workforce using AI several times a week, and the results turn traditional tech expectations on their head Emerging markets lead: India and the Middle East are at the absolute forefront, with adoption rates soaring well above 80%. Brazil follows closely behind at nearly 76%. Developed economies lag: Developed nations like the UK, Germany, and the US sit much lower in the 60-70% range. The Japan anomaly: Japan ranks the lowest among the group, with barely 50% of its workforce integrating AI into their weekly routine. While developed economies often pioneer the underlying technology, emerging markets are implementing it into daily work at a much faster pace.

We must face reality and consider what truly needs to be done. Don’t forget—we are running out of time... 👇 tamorist.github.io/
2025 GHG EMISSIONS INCREASED 50% FROM 1990, MORE FOSSIL CO2 GHG emissions have been increased about 54% from 1990. Fossil CO2 proportion was 60% in 1990, 68% in 2025. UNEP Emissions Gap Report, 2026. unep.org/en/publications/rep… #emissions #climatechange #CO2 #globalwarming

About 70% of all fossil CO₂ was emitted in the last 50 years. Humanity now uses 1.7 Earths. The richest 10% cause about half of emissions — and own three-quarters of the wealth. We don’t need more. We need to share what’s enough. nitter.cf/ttmori/status/21175803… 4/ 🧵
#ClimateChange #Decarbonization #Degrowth Climate change isn’t just a tech problem. It’s an economic one. ● ~70% of all fossil CO₂ was emitted in the last 50 years ● Humanity uses 1.7 Earths ● The richest 10% cause ~half of emissions and own ~¾ of wealth “Renewables overtook coal” is about electricity; fossil fuels still supply ~80% of world energy. Even if every pledge is kept, 2035 cuts reach only about a fifth of what 1.5°C needs. Yet humanity as a whole already has enough food and wealth. What we need isn’t more — it’s an economy that shares what’s enough fairly, and binding rules to get there. All on one page, with data and sources: tamorist.github.io/enough/

[1/ 🧵] ------ [Call for Signatures: A Youth-Led Global Citizens' Congress] With the recent global rise in severe heatwaves and natural disasters, the impacts of climate change have become undeniably visible. However, this is merely the beginning; without adequate action, we risk facing a crisis within the next 20 to 30 years that could threaten the very survival of our civilization. When we consider the limited time remaining to achieve net-zero CO2 emissions, it is clear that resolving the climate crisis brooks no delay. This challenge demands large-scale, global societal transformation. Yet, the world's current rigid political systems and existing processes for reconciling competing interests are wholly incapable of achieving such a transformation in time. To break free from the constraints of current politics and drive change forward, we have launched a petition urging world leaders to establish a "Youth-Led Global Citizens' Congress." By gathering voices, we can make the will of global citizens visible and mobilize a world that has become stagnant. 👇 Please help us secure a hopeful future by signing and sharing the petition at the link below! ❗️🙏🌍 ● Change .org (Global Petition Platform) (English version) nitter.cf/ttmori/status/21028193… (Japanese version) nitter.cf/ttmori/status/21038209… ● We don't have time (Global Climate Action Network) (English version) nitter.cf/ttmori/status/21045703… (Japanese version) nitter.cf/ttmori/status/21045657… ------ 👇 Other Projects / Links / etc. nitter.cf/ttmori/status/20929258… ------

tamorist.github.io/enough/?l…

Hey, citizens of the world— It’s time to wake up, or else they’re going to end up burning the planet to a crisp...
These criminals are laughing their heads off as the world roasts and governments - including the UK's - do absolutely nothing to rein them in They should be in jail, but instead they are popping the champagne corks theguardian.com/business/202…

I built a one-page map of the whole climate crisis. 🌍 Before the Tipping Point tamorist.github.io/tipping-p… Warming isn’t only gradual. Past certain points, ice sheets, ocean currents and forests change abruptly, in chains, and irreversibly. ▶ The carbon budget About 135 Gt of CO₂ is left before 1.5°C — roughly 3 years at today’s pace. A live counter shows it falling by ~1,330 tonnes every second. ▶ Tipping points Many lie between 1.5 and 2°C, and we are already at ~1.4°C. Move the temperature slider to see which of 14 tipping points enter the danger zone. Warm-water coral reefs have already been judged past theirs. ▶ Feedbacks and cascades Permafrost collapse alone could release 3–5× the remaining 1.5°C budget. Tip Greenland in the interactive diagram and watch the Atlantic circulation weaken and Antarctica destabilise. ▶ Two views Switch between the mainstream outlook (IPCC, UNEP) and the high-risk view — Hansen et al.’s accelerated warming and Anderson et al.’s stricter carbon budgets. In the high-risk view, about a year is left for 1.5°C. ▶ Why it doesn’t stop, and what we can do Rules that make emitting pay, a crisis made hard to see, and the twin traps of “there’s still time” and “it’s too late.” And why every 0.1°C still matters. Every number is sourced; our own estimates are labelled. Sister sites: The Slow War and 83 Billion Reasons. #ClimateCrisis #TippingPoints #CarbonBudget #ClimateChange

気候変動の「全体の地図」を、1ページのサイトにしました。 🌍 臨界点の手前で tamorist.github.io/tipping-p…

Humanity only has a future if they live within the limits of the natural world Yet no one on the left or right accepts that reality and all demand more economic growth and using the resources of multiple Earths even though we have only one Earth and brand as freaks anyone who objects

#ClimateAction #PlanetaryHealthDiet #EatLessMeat Every year, 83 billion land animals are killed for food. I built a single page on why to eat less meat, covering animals, the planet and health, and how to start without strain. The goal isn’t veganism. First, halve your meat. Later, eat 70% less. A few things surprised me while researching it: ● Using Japanese per-person averages, the emissions from eating meat are about the same scale as owning a private car. And unlike cars, almost everyone eats meat. ● Eating less meat cuts methane right away. Methane fades within about a decade or two, so the effect shows up fast. In the race against climate tipping points, it’s one of the few ways to buy time. ● The diet that’s good for both the planet and you (EAT–Lancet) includes about 43 g of meat a day. The Japanese average (about 93 g) is roughly double that. At today’s levels of meat eating, a sustainable planet doesn’t add up. The problem isn’t meat itself. It’s how much. This page isn’t about blaming anyone. Every number links to its primary source, and our own estimates are clearly labeled. 83 Billion Reasons (Available in English and Japanese) tamorist.github.io/83-billio…
