Just 7 days to go!
One week from today, OSSTF/FEESO members in the school board sector will begin casting their central strike votes.
This is the moment to send the government a strong message: members are united, members are ready, and members expect a fair deal that delivers for themselves, their colleagues, and their students.
A high turnout and a strong YES vote will give the #OSSTF bargaining team a strong mandate at the table.
And don't forget to take part in the test ballot! Log in, practise voting, and make sure you’re ready before the central vote opens November 6.
The test ballot closes tonight, October 30, at 9 p.m. ET.

Doug Ford is not fiscally conservative. He has wasted so much money on self-congratulatory ads and stupid booze deals since 2018 that could have gone to healthcare and education. I’m so tired of “doing more with less” and seeing student and staff safety plummet under Ford.
NEW TODAY: The Ford government plans to spend billions more this year — but not on sectors that say they desperately need it, like health care and education.
Ontario’s fall economic statement sets aside $3.8 billion in a contingency fund, more than double what was budgeted in March, to provide "fiscal flexibility" amid ongoing economic uncertainty.
The province is also projecting a $16.9 billion deficit, and has pushed back its timeline to balance the books.

The Government of Canada is now in a dominant position to take legal action, including nationalizing Stelco.

A US firm buying a Canadian firm for the express purpose (whether stated or not) of reducing competition in their US market is the very definition of bad faith and misrepresentation.
Also less politely called fraud. Agreeing to maintain jobs while actually planning to close it.

The misery in those hallways - the despair, the suffering, the blatant disregard for the sanctity of the person - I cannot forgive. He has promised us not once but four times that he was laser focused on solving the problem and he has achieved nothing. Disgraceful
NEW: We obtained internal government data showing Ontario’s hallway health care numbers hit unprecedented highs in the last two years, with over 2,000 patients treated in hallways on an average day last winter 🧵 thetrillium.ca/news/health/o…

After a 21-week break, Ford finally returns to Queen’s Park, just weeks before Xmas recess. Plenty of time for photo ops, ribbon cuttings & self-promotion. Meanwhile, hospitals struggle, education suffers & costs keep rising. Premier, Ontarians elected you to govern, not campaign

Education workers, students, families, and labour allies are coming together with one message: Ontario’s public schools deserve better!
We’re here to demand properly funded schools, the supports students need, and respect for the people who make public education possible.
This fight is bigger than any one union or any one bargaining table. It’s about protecting the future of public education.

Supporting our education workers is supporting our students.
Proud to stand with my Ottawa caucus colleagues, education workers, and public school advocates at today’s education rally in Ottawa.
Our message to Doug Ford is simple: Bargain in good faith. Smaller class sizes. Safer schools. More staff and student supports. Fair wages. Proper funding for public education.
Listen to education workers and students. #onpoli #onted #ontedunited #ontedsolidaire

“And our members have been saying for far too long, eight years under this government, that they can't continue to do more with less. And they can't continue to hold a system up with the number of cuts that have been made in the system.”
The Ford government’s cuts have consequences: larger classes, fewer supports, and growing pressure on teachers and education workers.
